Honestly, I wouldn't use a flea collar on a kitten at all. I've tried it on several cats, and never failed to get a bad reaction. Since then, research has suggested that the reactions I saw are more common than were first thought to be.

You'll want Front Line or Advantix instead: Rub it into the nape of the kitty's neck, making sure it gets all the way down to the skin. That will run off fleas and ticks.

Good luck!

There are special flea collars you can put on kittens, check the box...but even better is to take the cat to the vet and get some Frontline or any of the other quality products that protect the pet for three months at a time. They work so much better than flea collars and will save you the cost and aggrevation of exterminiating fleas in your house.

Flea collars can be toxic, plus your cat could get it caught somewhere. Your cat will always have fleas if you let the cat out. If your cat stays in you can try to control the fleas naturally check out this sitehttp://www.earthclinic.com/Pets/fleas.html The only natural remedy that I tried in the past was when I had carpets I sprinkled Borax or boric acid powder and vaccumed it up. I did not leave it on for a couple of days as directed b/c I was afraid my pets would get it on their paws and ingest it. Kids too. It seemed to work.Get a flea comb and comb your cat and drop the fleas in alcohol to kill them. I used to use those spot flea killers on my cats until I noticed with one of them that it left a bald spot where applied and I felt that anything that could make the hair on my cat stop growing was probably not a good thing to keep putting on them. But fleas are not good on the pet either, especially a flea infestation. I find daily combing and removal of the fleas works or at least keeps it down to a couple of fleas. I find that some of my cats seem to attract fleas and others don't . My cats don't go out but they sit on a ground floor patio. Keep vaccuming and washing all bedding and floors.

I wouldn't put a flea collar on a cat or dog..they do not work and they are packed full of chemicals. My mother's cat almost died from using them, she reacted badly from it. As long as you keep the cat clean and it's living area clean and free of fleas, everything should be fine. I have an inside dog that I tried a flea collar on once..didn't do any good at all and I tried three different brands...was just a waste of money. I ended up buy a flea light that got rid of them all!!! http://www.amazon.com/Flea-Trap/dp/B0002PS7O4

you are wasting your time using flea collars. All they do is keep the fleas off of the head. You need to go to your vet and get a vet recommended flea product like Advantage or Frontline

I am pretty sure it says on the back of the box the flea collar comes in. I am thinking it says 12 weeks.

Personally I wouldn't put a flea collar on a cat, although I know they sell them. Theres also a jell that you put on the back of thier neck. I use it with ten flealess cats thats a pretty good track record. 8weeks at least before you should do anything

6 months usually, but they don't work. Trust me, I tried it all and finally broke down and bought Advantage, wish I had done that first, would've saved myself a lot of money....
