If a woman makes an informed descion to become a prostitute and does it in a safe and healthy way, minimizeing the inherent risks why should she be derided and thought of as less of a person.
It is the oldest profession going and surely it would be both cheaper and safer to legalise it and moniter it therefore making it safer for the people who work in the industry

Some good comments there although I dont agree with them all. Legalising it would actually cut down the risk of STDs as the women would have to have regular health checks and wear condoms at all times.
If I wouldnt do something sexually that my partner liked then I would have no problem with him going to a prostitute for it if it was done in a safe way. I would rather it was a business arrangement then for him to pick up a lass on a night out and possibly get involved with her emotionally and still pick up a STD.

If my daughter decided to become a prostitute I wouldnt be happy about her career choice but I would still support her and love her. I certainly wouldnt be ashamed of her or disown her.

I would never become a prostitute, but I have nothing against people who work in the sex trade.
If someone wants to work as a prostitute, that is their business.

OK i understand what your saying. But then again you could legalise heroin and monitor its use etc, that wouldnt be a very good move for society would it ?. I think that young girls growing up should be idolising teachers etc, not a prostitute. Making prostitution would lower the goals and expectations of most civilised society, "why work when i can do this" attitude. As much as you may monitor it, say a single girl out of 10 000 sleeps with a guy with aids. Then gets another 3 clients that night. Then they get aids. They go home sleep with there wives and they get aids. Then before they find out, in a month she would have slept with hundreds more men. The men would have slept with more prostitutes causing a knock on effect. The outbreak of disease from legalised prostitution would criple the NHS and lets face it, there wouldnt be many nurses, because they could become prostitutes and make more money.

Is it wrong? Well there's grey area around this as well as a lot of things in this world.
Personally if the girl can stand this way of living, I said there's nothing wrong with it.
But we have to put in mind that, most men that goes to prostitute might have some fantasy that are not satisfied by their partners. What if, this man have a sadomasochism? (hurting the other partners in order to have sexual satisfaction), then I would feel it's unsafe for the sex workers, they are risking their live.
Also, a lot of girls that goes into prostitution wouldn't have a choice on which guy she wants to sleep with, wether its an attractive/ or repulsive man. If you think about it, the prostitutes might not enjoy the sex, because she got paid to please the man, so forget about her own sexual satisfaction. If you think for yourself, how would you feel to have sex with a stranger, one after another? The sex worker probably just lay there and hopes the man finished as soon as possible. Also, most of the money goes to the pimp tho...wouldn't that sad for our own gender?
I'm not judging the prostitutes on their moral...I think morally they deserve thumbs up for keeping up with a hard work like that...

I am a mum with 2 kids, hubby, job, car dog etc I think I am a typical female (ish). I thank my lucky stars that I don't have to do that for a living as it's not my idea of fun. But for someone who can stand it for a few times a day, day in day out, then why not. Even better if they enjoy sex that much & if the living is good from what they do.
I do disagree with girls being exploited for sex & not earning all or most of the money for themselves.
I also understand that not all men find it easy to approach women to start a relationship so here here to the women who look after them. No prostitution is not wrong it should be out there like Tesco's!!

Nothing wrong at all. A prostitute earns a living which puts her way ahead of a person living on benefit.
Back to the principle precept of Christianity - if you enjoy it, it is prohibited. Hence the stigma attached to this honourable profession.

Many people argue that the women don't "choose" but are forced by a society that only values them for sex and doesn't give them an opportunity for other employment. If you visit the website below they have sections on choice, stds, and AIDS.

In my opinon it isn't wrong.
I just wish they would legalise so that sex workers started being checked for diseases.
Also, I don't see why they should earn a fortune without paying taxes when people who earn the minimum wage get almost half of it taken away.
Of course I mean people who do it out of choice, not someone who is forced to do it.

I think it should be paid by medicare.
Let the gals make a living. Aren't we all prostitutes. Do you know any place that gives a senior citizen discount, let me know. Are you available and what is the fee.

Well why don't you find a women who has worked in this industry and after you get past the aged, weathered look of her, ask her what is good about using your body to entertain and satisfy so many men in a 24 hour period. Then you will get your answer. Our bodies are not designed for this type of behavior. And our minds in a healthy state would not accept this from ourselves. We would want so much more. Prostitution is not glamor Hollywood style... The reality is ugly....Just my opinion. God bless****

personally i dont think it is .. i lived in germany for years where it is legalised .. their sex crime rates r low .. the girls are tested weekly and are safe and not on the streets ...
As a woman i believe we are more in control of our sexuality today and why should a woman not sell sex as a means to support herself .. gone are the days where we were empowered by men ..
