What about the KKK?
Do you think every single member was brainwashed?
Of course not.
People who are racist against blacks join this cult.
We have many cults in America.
Having said, it is a fact that many people are brainwashed into the Westboro Baptist Church.
Many followers of his church are born into it through his parishioners family.
How would you feel if you were one of the kids brought up in the Westboro Baptist Church.
All your life, mommy and daddy tell you to hate fags.
You are taught to yell at anybody who disagrees with you.
That is what its like to grow up in one of those houses which attend Westboro.
This is why I feel sorry for all Muslims.
We are all a victim of social engineering.
Secular Humanism tries to be that social engineering.
How can secular humanism fix the symptoms of religion when the disease is the dictator?
Religious humanism can only mend the people, not the leader.
There must be balance between the two.
Sara, instead of attacking the symptoms, attack the disease.
You know religion is pure in its intended form.
Its the water, which corrodes the metal, leaving religion in its rusty form.
The government of Iran must be purified.
The Muslims of that country are only symptoms of its diseased leader.
When you hear a feral child who attacked a person, do you blame the child or his animal parents?
Think about it.
God Bless

People join cults all the time. They are brain washed into thinking that their cult is true religion but the only true religion is God's. If you read the Holy Bible it will tell you all that you need to know about God and what God has for us. It is his plan for our lives and it is our Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth. The cults will make you think that they are right and everyone else is wrong but i am here to tell you that if you read the Holy Word of God it will not stir you wrong at all.

No. People are recruited into cults, it really happens. The same psychological techniques that interragators use to coerce suspects are used against victims. They use very persuasive pressure tactics. The difference between cults and interrogators, is that cults actually profile, track and choose their new subjects, and interrogators don't have a choice of who they have to work with. It's a very serious thing.

...then they find out(not too late ,I hope) that the leaders of the group want to get them to hate anything that they do not control, that they are just cogs in some sort of machine and all outside that control is evil or at least lost and suspect. There are atheistic cults as well as religiously"flavored" ones. They are all unhealthy.
Of course, some cultists label everything that they don't approve of as a cult!

Well it depends. If enough people join a cult it's called a "religion."

People join cults all the time. But I guess technically you're right. Most people don't just "join"... they're suckered in. They're brainwashed from the beginning. They're bamboozled.

I don't know why people keep saying we are a cult. a cult worships man. we worship Jehovah God. we may live next door to you. a cult live together and do everything together. we work on jobs just like you. jim jones or charles manson are cult leaders.

Last time I checked, my church didn't deny people sleep or food, or force them to hand over all their worldly goods. The whole comparison of religion to brainwashing cults only points out the ignorance of the people making the comparison.
