Parris Island or Pendleton Drill Instructor ONLY!
Why you ask? Because its the best damn training in the world!

I am a Drill Sergeant, all of the bone heads who said there is no difference are completely wrong. Drill Sergeants are Army!
and drill instructors are Marines and maybe some of the other branches. To this day I have never let it go without a correction when I have been referred to as a drill instructor by soldiers or civilians. Call a jar-head a Drill Sergeant and see his response. I am grateful I was trained by 3 great Drill Sergeant in 1991. I'll all ways remember what they taught me.

I had drill sergeants in the Army and the best (fiercest) drill instructors at Navy Flight School. From my experience, drill sergeants are Girl Scouts in comparison. When I was done I respected and loved the drill instructors. I don't think I would want to go through that again though. I would have to choose drill sergeant because I am a wimp.

drill seargants have alotta limitations now due to the new generation. its not which one its who the trainer is. i was an instructor for the cav and i always got in trouble for training soldiers the same way i was trained.

Drill Instructor, Drill Sergeant same thing. I was in Army and we called them Drill Sergeants.

This is redundant: A drill sergeant IS a drill instructor!
I went through basic training twice, so to me it's a "who cares"; you join up, you get trained, hopefully by someone who is a little bit decent and will not do anything illegal.

instructor sounds like they would be nicer and like trying to teach you instead of just barking orders.

They will treat you they way you deserve to be treated. If you **** up alot you'll get treated like ****.

i prefer papa smurf, at least he cares. both train you to death, give you no reason to want to go on living, and at the end both hype you up and send you to IRAQ. papa smurf lets u sleep as much as you want, and do whatever you want.

They serve the same function, they just work for different branches of the military.
