The qualification is whether or not, YOU and the son's cousins are actually related. Or, do you have an ancestor in common with them.. or not? Just because they are related to your cousin does not mean that they are related to you (or that they are not).
If you want to be technical, you trace your ancestors (and descendents), and do the same for them. Then see if there is a connection.
If not... just be nice, call them buddies and share the popcorn with them.

Your cousin's son's cousin would be your second cousin once removed. If you look at the site below, it explains all of the family relationships specifically, so by looking at the chart i figured out the relationship for you. I hope that i have helped =)

Do you share a common ancestor? Your cousin's son's cousins might be related to you and might not. Your cousin son's has two parents and you are related to one of them, most likely. If your cousin's son's cousins come from the side of your cousin's son's parent that you are related to
then you are related but we need to know specifically how? If your cousin's son's cousins come from the parent that you are not related to then you are not related to them.

Let me put it this way. My father had 5 brothers. I'll pick one, Ross. Ross had two children, Roy and Sandra. The cousins Roy and Sandra have that are my father's and Uncle Ross' brothers' and sisters' children are my cousins. The cousins Roy and Sandra have that Mildred, Uncle Ross' wife, brothers and sisters have are not related to me at all unless some place way back long time ago we share a common ancestor.

Your cousin's sons would be considered your first cousins once removed. That is why you would call your cousin's sons cousins. Take a look at this site, it will show you charts explaining second cousins, first cousins twice removed, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_cousin
