You reached a mama in the Bible belt, so I'll give you my opinion: having sex and sleeping together are the same thing, making love is in a whole nother universe. The difference: commitment.

It depends on the usage. Most often, when someone says they are 'sleeping with someone,' it means they are having sex with that person. People can, however, sleep in the same bed without having sex. Ask a married person. ;)

when you sleep with someone, you just sleep with them with no sexual contact whatsoever, so you may be reading books together or debating current issues till you're both tired out and decide to sleep. having sex means sleeping together but having sex at the same time. usually not having a great night's rest, but you'd be happy knowing you've given your body a few hours worth of horizontal workout.

Generally speaking, sleeping with someone equals having sex. It is possible that you actually only go to bed to sleep with someone, and you DON'T have sex, but that's pretty unlikely.

Totally. If there is no real intense action, then you technically didn't have sex, you just slept next to them. It might be different from another person's point of view, but the way I look at it, you aren't having sex unless you really get busy.

Yes there is.
Sleeping with someone: Eyes closed.
Having sex: Eyes open and hopefully moving.
