In book club for RS enrichment a month or so ago, the group leader brought a list of books you should read in your life. She said she got it from the New Era and that the list was published in the 70's or 80's. I have looked all over the church's online library, but can't find the article. And the group leader doesn't know where to find it exactly (she got it from someone else).

Has anyone seen this list and know where I could find it?

recommended New Era, June 1989, to prepare for a mission

Books to Read
Several books are suggested reading to help you prepare to serve a mission:

The LDS editions of the standard works.

Gospel Principles (PBIC0245).

A Marvelous Work and a Wonder, LeGrand Richards, rev. ed. (Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1966).

Jesus the Christ, James E. Talmage, 3d ed. (Salt Lake City: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1916).

The Articles of Faith, James E. Talmage, 12th ed. (Salt Lake City: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1916).

Truth Restored (PBMI0164).

Books with PB numbers following the title can be ordered through Church distribution centers. Other books can be obtained or ordered through LDS bookstores.

Note: If you want to read the Book of Mormon three times in two years, you need read just two pages per day.

That was the only one I could find

If you have already looked in the online library and this old article has not been digitized, then you will have to go to the meetinghouse library and see if they have old copies of the magazines. I have many old copies at home from that time period but it would take quite a bit of searching to see if I have what you are looking for.

I would tell you to look on the Church's website. I know that it used to be called the Improvement Era- maybe that is where you need to look. If you knew the name of the article or the author, that would really help you.

I don't know where else to tell you to look.
