The original sin was the first sin...Eve ate the fruit from the tree after god told her not to.
Some people use "original sin" to describe sexual acts--perhaps because after the eating of the fruit, Adam and Eve noticed they were naked.
A third idea is that "original sin" is deception....the serpent deceived Eve into believing that eating the fruit would not lead to her doom. In turn, Eve offered the fruit to Adam....and hey, when a naked lady offers you fruit, you take it!
Women have gotten a bad rap ever since.

the original sin was that Eve gave into the desire to "be like God"..that is how the serpent deceived her. Jesus is the only human who never sinned and so therefore the only one who could be a sacrifice for the rest of humanity. I hope that helped you to understand a little more but without bible quotes I can not show you how God had always required a blood sacrifice and how the scriptures point out that the sacrifice would be from a certain blood line etc etc. Peace

Original Sin is sin we are born with because Adam and Eve at an apple from the forbidden tree. The only way to get rid of original sin is to baptized, preferable as an infant because if you are not baptized you never get to see god you go to a place called limbo. Pretty nice isn't it. This is what I learned growing up and as an adult I do not believe it to be true on bit. If we come from god and he is all loving and all forgiving, then why would we not get to see him again? And a baby the most innocent creature there is not getting to see god because he/she was not baptized to was away original sin is a crock. That means baby that does not survive delivery or dies before baptize goes to limbo. My god wouldn't do that. Anyway I am rambling, I am very passionate about this sort of thing. Be in Peace and Love

In the story of the garden of Eden in the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve was told that they could enjoy everything in this place except they were not to touch the fruit of the tree of knowledge or they would die. At this time, there was no death. Satan came alone and tempted Eve by telling her that she would not die by partaking of the tree( not an apple) and she partook of the delight. Immediately, she realized she had done something wrong because she felt the need to cover her body. Before this she had no idea that she was naked. This became the original sin because it was the first act of disobedience. The fruit was not an apple because it was that they were not to partake of the tree of knowledge. We have been taught it was an apple because no one wanted to tell the truth as to what it really was. I suggest you STUDY the book of Genesis for yourself. You are tagged with it because she is the first women and we are decendents of them and yes Jesus is the only solution.

By not reading or listening to Gods' Word and listening to other source was and is the original sin. Like you who does not want to listen to Bible quotes but as if serious in learning this most important thing in life, how can you not be imputed on that original sin! Because Jesus said that no one comes to the Father except through Him; but you refuse to listen to Him because you count this as a Bible quote, then how can you be enlighten when in the first place you refuse to take?

The original sin is Adam and Eve disobeying God when he told them not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Because we are decendents of A&E we are born with the original sin. Contrary to some beliefs, baptism does not take away original sin. We also have a really bad habit of adding our own sins to the one original sin we got born with. so, we are not eligible for heaven even if we are good our whole lives. There is only one prescription for this condition. We must accept Jesus' sacrifice on the cross as our payment for sin. He will give you a heart transplant and you will be fine.

Plain and simple. Adam and Eve disobeyed God by doing what they weren't supposed to (eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil). Because of this, they were kicked out of the garden, force to work for their living, and, among other things, passed on an ifectious disease. SIN!!! The only cure for this disease is Jesus Christ. Even though for years the Isrealites sacrificed animals for their sins, these sacrifices were only to point them to the comming Messiah. The blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sin, only the PERFECT lamb of God (Jesus Christ) is able to do that.

This comes from my Catholic faith of the past 36 years and biblical studies.
Original sin that stains our souls comes from Adam AND Eve. It was Eve that believed the serpent that tempted her with the notion that she could become like God if she ate from the tree that God forbade her from. The temptation that she faced isn't the sin but when she bit into the fruit, that was the sin because God told her and Adam NOT to eat the fruit from that tree. And the sin of Adam was that he didn't protect her from temptations that could be lurking in the garden. Adam was there when the serpent spoke to Eve and Adam watched her take the fruit from the tree and take a bite and he did nothing. Then he also took a bite because Eve used her beauty and words to tempt him as well. Adam did not give into the temptation of being God-like that the serpent talked to Eve about. She believed his lies. Adam gave into the temptation that Eve used to seduce Adam with. Temptation of the flesh and lies.
God cursed the serpent and mankind because of their sins. Mankind was no longer perfect and that's why God kicked them out of the Garden of Eden/Paradise. When we are conceived, God put our soul into the baby's body. Our souls have the stain of the original sin. It's only through the blood of Jesus that one can be saved. Believing in God and the Jesus is His Son and that Jesus died for your soul to be saved.

May peace and blessing be upon you. My answer would be that there is no 'original sin', why would it be that mankind was created for the purpose of repenting for their births? and also, what i do not understand is that why would Jesus (or Isa, May Peace and Blessings be upon him) die for people's sins when he knew that it wouldn't make a difference to 'original sins' that were placed on them from birth, it wouldn't be lifted from them. Dont get me wrong, i deeply respect your religion, but that's just something that doesn't make sense.
My way of life is completely different in that matter, we believe that each newborn is pure without any sin..
why has everyone got a different definition of 'the original sin'? because nobody truly knows...maybe its not true?
by the way, if anybody finds this offensive, i am well and truly sorry for treading on your shoes..

No, but there's a Visine for that! Just kidding. The original sin was committed by Satan, the originator of it. He decided He'd be God. He brought rebellion against God in heaven. That's what we are all guilty of on earth. We want to be the god of our own lives. It is high treason, and punishable by death. It's how the devil introduced sin into the earth.
