eat with teeth as far away as you can, grains and other things that can get stuck where the teeth were arnt fun
cold milk and gatorade are both fairly soothing to your sore gums(found out from personal experince)

btw, dont take the medication RIGHT before
take it about a half hour to a hour before so it has time to kick in

edit: ibuprofen wont do much but its better than nothing

if its a option, opiate based painkillers such as vicodin and oxycontin do take the edge off when having teeth removed but only take them if they are perscribed to you(standard disclaimer heh)

My daughter just had her out last week and is healing up nicely. Yes you are quite young to even have Wisdom Teeth, but from what I was told the younger the better. You will be quite sore for the first three days. Make certain that you take ALL of your Antibiotics until they are gone. No drinking from a straw, drink lots of fluids. Keep all of your food Soft and at Room Temp at least for the first THREE days, then as tolerated after..My daughter did well with these foods.
Jello/mashed potatos/soups without big peices/canned ravioli/ ice cream/ canned pears because there soft/ soft bread, it will coat your stomach from the antibiotics/ soft scrambled eggs/ omelets/

Also for the swelling KEEP the Ice Bags coming!!! The Bleeding will be pretty well over after the first or second day.
Stay IN BED escpecially on the First day or two......

And lastly Keep your tougue out from the incisions and remember to swoosh with salt water every 4-6 hours.

Best of Luck...

Why don't you just wait until tomorrow and I'll just bet your oral surgeon will provide you with all that information. And don't be scared. You won't remember a thing.

You know, fourteen is pretty early to be having your wisdom teeth pulled. Why don't they just leave the top ones alone and give them a few more years to get into place? Are your parents O.K. with this surgery? And yes, it is surgery.

i was 13 when i had mine taken out and i was VERY scared but it really wasnt too bad.. popcicles, anything creamy!! no real food for a few days other wise it will hurt like a ***** and it can get up where the teeth used to be! keep putting ice packs on it there will be alot of swelling and bruising and just dont forget to take your pain meds!! :) good luck!

You,ll be OK honey. I had to have two of mine cut out because they had split open and were killing me. Once the painkiller wore off and I had sensation again I was felling like a different person. If you need to ask the dentist for a few, and I mean a few, Hydrocodone. They will kill the pain. Like heavy duty asprin.

It was so much easier for me that I expected. Take 4 ibuprophen (Advil) right before they do the work, so that the medicine will be kicked in when you come out of it. Also, ask for shots only (instead of being knocked out) because when you get knocked out, the stuff stays in your system for a few days and makes you sick.
