If you have the money and you want a HD TV, then go for it by all means, but if you don't have the money, then you're fine with just a normal TV.
It's not necessary to get a HD TV to go with the PS3.

as far as what I've experienced with playing on hdtv's and sdtv's, it's just not worth owning a PS3 if you're going to pair it with a regular television. The graphics aren't that much better than the ps2's and since none of the games available so far can stand on gameplay alone, there's no real reason you should be playing the PS3 on anything but a High def set.

i say there a big difference i have a 52 inch high def tv but it only had standard high def didn't have the hdmi connections so i went out and bought me a 42 lcd tv and there is a big difference in gaming...the lcd tv show more depth and more clearer than a standard tv. i would say go for the hd even if it a smaller tv just for your ps3 it worth it....

If you have the money and want an hd tv, go for it. It's not essential though. I have my Playstation 3 hooked up to a standard definition tv, and it looks great.

yea you might want an hd because playing a ps3 on regular tv defeats the purpose of the system you might as well just stick to the ps2 because thats what it is going to look like. So if you want the true feel of a ps3 get the hd or otherwise you just wasting money.
