whoever told you that there is an "evap system" in any car was just plain out to lunch and probably never even returned from a three martini breakfast............... no such animal ..... and ii've owned 6 different convertibles ................

I will assume here that you must have a check engine light on with a code that says either, "small evap leak" or "large evap leak". The evap system, and ALL cars have them '96 and newer, is simply the fuel vapor recovery system between the fuel tank and the air intake / canister. A couple of things can cause your issue.
