she is a/b 3 months old. she was a stray, and was thin to begin with, but after being spayed this morning, you can literally SEE her ribs. we had to take her to a low cost clinic, so i guess i am overly skeptical to begin with.

update- she is currently on science diet kitten food. we found her as a stray just recently, so she was thin due to that. it's just the drastic difference from this morning startled me! maybe we should have waited to have her spayed...although our vet said that she was old enough to do it now. thanks for all of the help, everyone!

Well, she has lost some weight - she's had some of her organs removed. Trust me that even at a low cost clinic it won't have been possible for them to do anything else to make her weigh less!

3 months is an extremely young age to neuter an animal, that's the only thing I'm really worried about - they can't really have kittens before 4 months of age (and even at that age it's fairly unusual) so 3 months is pretty young. It's usually done from 5 months of age.

The things you want to keep an eye on after neutering are: that the cat begins eating again within 24 hours, that the spay wound does not become reddened or swollen at all. Don't let kitty interfer with the wound at all, even licking can introduce bacteria and cause infection. A low cost clinic is likely to have used a cheap suture material which can cause the above problems; just keep and eye on it and call the vet if you're at all worried.

As for the skinny situation, talk to a vet for some nutrition advice. Kitty needs to be on a high quality kitten food until she's a year old - something like Iams or Hills Science Diet - definitely no Whiskas, Felix, Sheba or Fancy Feast!

The low cost clinics have the same licensed vets as if you had gone to a regular practice. The only difference is they frequently don't do a lot of the presurgery bloodwork a vet would do in a normal practice. Frequently, the vet volunteers their own time for that, so I highly doubt they would've done something to your kitten. Sometimes they look very different once they've been shaved down for spaying. If she's never been dewormed you may want to look into having that done. She may require a higher quality food especially if she's particularly high energy. The only other reason I can think of her looking much thinner would be if she was already pregnant when she went in. Cat's can get pregnant as young as 6 months and some cats look quite 'kittenish'. If you had any doubt as to her age, that could be it too.

How old are those doggies? Has the mummy been to the vet for a post partum examine up? Has she been checked for a fever or uterine an infection? After the beginning mom dogs could desire to consume 2 hundred-3 hundred% greater effective than they have been ingesting pregnant. this is plenty, so 5 smaller nutrients an afternoon is larger. you may upload some egg(uncooked and finished with the shell), fat loose-sugar loose undeniable yogurt, and a few clean berries (blueberries, raspberries and so on) If this mom gets too skinny she could desire to end offering for her doggies so this desires to be fastened NOW.

Anything that causes stress will cause weight loss in an animal. Give her alot of treats, love and cuddles, as well as perhaps some Kitty Milk. (Purina makes a good one) and keep food out for her.
