I am not Catholic, and I have seen exactly what you are talking about. Why some times there will be the occasional person who seems to be on a mission to cast aspersions on Catholics as a whole.
I am not one of "them", even though I consider myself a fundamentalist, I wouldn't suggest that Catholic is equivalent to "non-believer" or even some of the more awful things which have been said.
Sister in Christ, just another branch on the vine!
EDIT: seeing Sara's response, if the person "godismyshield" is one whom you are speaking of
then take heart... his account has been deleted, although I suspect it has remerged as ... hmmm where did I see those similar questions.
Take heart, as I also got nasty responses from him. And I am not Catholic, atheist, pagan, agnostic or any of the other groups he hated..... I just disagreed with him and called him on his apostasy.

People here are faceless, and nameless - so being human will say things normally they wouldn't - because of this.
Just because someone is _______ (insert religious calling/title) doesn't mean they are not human - and fall to temptation.
Some are stopped by instant regret - while others will do something and regret it weeks years later.
Lastly some think they are so holy that insulting or hurting others is not a sin to them.
There is no telling why humans do what they so - really.

Hi Midge. This is something that has happened with some of my own questions. And I've noticed a lot of times it doesn't even pertain to the question, but rather they see it as an opportunity to mock and ridicule...or to push their own interpretations and beliefs on us. I think it has to do with being conditioned their whole lives to hate the Catholic Church and everything it stands for...actually, what they "think" is the Catholic Church. The true Church and we as the body of Christ will always be mocked, but take joy in carrying your cross to follow after Him and remember... "Blessed are those who suffer because of me." God bless...

people do no longer understand the version between intercession and mediation, and that's the place the subject is provided in. Jesus *is* our in straightforward terms Mediator in concerns of salvation, it somewhat is amazingly actual. even regardless of the undeniable fact that, a mediator is somebody who settles a dispute between 2 disagreeing events. Jesus can bypass to His Father and say, "Father, I paid the fee for this individual's sins by my sacrifice on the bypass." there is no longer a dispute between us and God whilst Jesus mediates the settlement. even regardless of the undeniable fact that, we've many intercessors -- people who pray for us and ask God to assist us. If a mediator is nearly a legal professional, then an intercessor is like your uncle who's friends with the CEO of the organization the place you are attempting to get a activity. Your uncle can put in a good be conscious for you and intercede with the boss that might assist you get the activity. interior a similar way, we can ask our friends, kin, Mary, and the saints to desire for us. so a ways as forgiveness of sins, the Catholic Church follows the development typical by our Lord and Savior Himself. Jesus gave His disciples and their successors the authority to remit (forgive) or hold (no longer forgive) sins based on the sincerity of the guy's repentance. Venial sins could be forgiven by saying an admission of guilt, yet mortal sins must be dealt with by sacramental Confession and absolution. the reason at the back of it somewhat is by using the fact those sins have destroyed our religious existence, and in straightforward terms a desirable act of Absolution can fix that existence. Venial sins injury our souls, too, yet they do no longer separate us thoroughly from God. i'm hoping this permits you. God bless!

I'm looking forward to reading the answers that you get to this question. It seems as if the word "Catholic" has the power to bring out either the best or the worst in our fellow Christian believers.
I'd be interested in seeing how the latter group justifies their hatred and viciousness toward their Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ.
And to the former group, I say, "God bless you."

Sweety dont be shocked, a lot and i mean a lot of Christians think that we, Catholics, are not Christians. someone answered one of my questions as "the Catholic Church is the religion of Babylon and accept all whores". I dont understand why, all Christians should be united.

Midge, are you talking about that 'shield is god' character?
He wasn't a Christian. He wasn't anything, other than a severely mentally ill sociopath. I hope you don't take anything he wrote about you personally.
Atheists are people, some are rude some are amazingly kind, just like members of any other label humans apply to themselves.
That user sent me about 10 e-mails, I posted the first and most vile as a question. Here is the link- http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhStG.2zYVFW2tx00orG4Bnty6IX?qid=20070603144427AADaLdU
I posted this e-mail he sent me to the very strange questions he asked about you being angry. He deleted those questions, blocked me, and added my name to the ridiculous questions he asked about you.
Many, many other people received e-mails from him as well, if you look at the answers to my question you will see that. Plus here are other people who posted his e-mails as questions.-

I think he is now going by the name Daniel K, based on that users questions, and the fact that each of them were starred by none other than "mysheildishate". Here is daniel k's profile if you want to save yourself some greif and block him -

You might not like to admit it, but some of the atheists you want to overlook are far more knowledgeable about Catholicism than many Catholics are.
