Why do older TV's explode (some loud some not) when put in the back of my garbage truck and then crushed?

When you do the "garbapaction" [garbage + compaction] you are probably hearing the picture tube which has a high vacuum implode! It is probably safe as long as the thing that scoops the garbage into the truck totally covers the TV when it happens. If it bites a TV in the middle so its partly exposed, the glass could fly out and hit you.

new TV will also explode if u did the same with it

Vacuum inside the picture tube. Kinda of like when i shoot one with my magnum.
