When you wake up a child... and sometimes an adult... they are trying to walk around and they are still so sleepy, and they are just shaking.

Not sure the medical textbook answer. But I do know that while we sleep, our muscles go into sort of "lock" mode, to keep you from acting out during your dreams. When you wake up, your brain has to "unlock" all your muscles. Maybe this is why it such a "trauma" to wake up. At least it is for me. I get the shakes if I try to get up too fast.

Peace.

I actually get the shakes when I go to sleep! LOL..yeah the body relaxes and it's just instinct. Once I was I dreamt that I had slipped on ice or something and I woke up with my leg shaking! It was funny!

I use to get that all the time. I was just FREEZING. I was all warm under the covers, and the sudden climate change was just kind of a shock to my system.
