I read somewhere that the deepest circle of hell contains Judas, Brutus, and Cassius, but didn't Jesus tell Judas he was forgiven?

I always wonder why Judas should be punished. Without his actions, Jesus could not die and be resurrected. And since it was God's plan, did he really have a choice? he should have been forgiven.

The bible does state that there are different levels of hell, but it does not name Judas, Brutus or Cassius as being on any of them. No, Jesus never told Judas that he was forgiven.

There is no accepted writings concerning Judas, Brutus and Cassius in Hell. The Bible clearly indicates that Judas was not saved. Jesus Himself said of Judas, “The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born” (Matthew 26:24). John 17:12 also says concerning Judas, “While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.”

No he didn't. Judas asked for forgiveness, repented, and returned the 30 pieces of silver. The difference between him and Peter is that he did not believe that Jesus would forgive him. That's where he messed up.

the Divine Comedy. Yes because Jesus is a back stabbing *****. He's the one going around telling everyone his sole destiny is to die on earth and erase everyone's sin, so here come Judas who GETS him killed, and now he is hated. While the other dickheads get all the glory.
The is nothing to be forgiven, it's like the mailman giving you your mail, do you forgive him?

That description of the ninth circle comes from Dante, not any biblical source. In fact, the whole concept of Hell having circles comes from Dante.

Judas didn't repent and ask to be forgiven, as far as we know.

Nobody knows if anyone is in Hell.
And it is not recorded in the Bible,
that Jesus forgave Judas.
That's someone's presumption.
