My sister is religious and I am an Athiest. I love her the way she is and she loves me the way I am. Anyways, I'm going to go visit her soon. I saw these cute socks that said "Jesus Rocks" with little guitars and I thought of her. I was wondering if I gave them to her would she think I was being a smartarse or know I just thought they were cute and all? Your opinions please? (on the socks and her reaction, not your opinions on religion please)

I think those are some really cool socks. You could just explain before she opens the present that you thought of her and you thought they were cute. I don't think you have anything to worry about if you and your sister have the laid back relationship it sounds like you all have.

Thats really funny because I am an Athiest and my sister is a Christian, so I hung a poster up in my room with Jesus playing the guitar and it says "Jesus Rocks". I did it as a way to mock the religion in general, but she finds it to be funny and not offensive.

Really only you and her can answer this question. If she is understanding of you being an atheist and she knows and understands you accept her being a Christian and ya'll have a good relationship I see no reason for her to take it wrong....I think it's good the two of you accept each other as is,,,says a lot about the two of you....Take care and I hope you have a good visit with your sis, enjoy!!!

I think its sweet of you to be thoughtful towards your sister. I think she'll like the socks because it means that you love her, nothing else.

"religious" is a vague term. If she's a right wing fundamentalist she'll be insulted and lecture you on taking the LORD's name in vain etc. Otherwise she'll smile and thank you for considering her opinion. I hope your love for each other is strictly filial and platonic?

well i would think it would be the way you give it to her.. If you give her the socks and make some kind a comment about them (in a negative way) then she will prob think you are trying to be smart... Its all about body language and tone =)

I don't know how old she is or if she still wears sox or not, but I'd say go for it.

she's your sister and you love eachother. Just give them to her and say that when you saw them, you thought she'd love them! If you're sincere, she'll know it and appreciate the gesture!
