absolutely, they may be rare but it is absolutely possible.
Good luck

RE:
Can orange tabby cats be female?
I heard they could only be males [usually] because of something sex-linked.. and females were rare..
I saw online at my shelter 3 orange tabby sisters..

If it's a solid orange tabby (no white) cat, it SHOULD be male. Females can be orange tabby/white. The same principle holds true for calicoes being female. Although the occasional oddball does show up, the odds are statistically greater for those two colorings to be gender specific.

Yes, the odds are just against it (simliar to the odds of a couple having a blue-eyed child if one of them has brown eyes.)
I believe that if the mother has orange on it (like a calico cat) and the father is orange, then it is more likely.
I had a female orange tabby, and she had kittens.
Unlike male callicos, female orange tabbies are not a genetic mutation, they've just beat "the odds."
For a male to be a calico, it means it has a genetic mutation and instead of XY it is XXY. Female orange tabbies just have to have the right genetics, no mutation.

I have an orange tabby female with orange eyes. The only white is the tip of the tail and it s gradual. She was 9 when I adopted her and she looked faded. Now she s darkening up to a rich copper color. She s so sweet but very shy. I m glad she s in my life

Female cats that are orange tabbies aren't common but they do occur. As for a color that is truly sex related, nearly all calico cats are female. The few males that do occur are usually sterile.

I own (no, strike that, she owns me!) a very beautiful orange female tabby. I never heard that it was a rarity. However, she does have white belly fur. I guess that disqualifies her as being really orange, huh? I didn't read the other answers before I threw in my two cents. Sorry about that.

Yes they can. They are not as common as orange males, but there are lots around. I certainly would not say they were rare. My friend has 2. I have had 5 I think over about 30 years.

orange tabby cats can be female but most people prefer getting male Tabby's so that is why you don't normally see female orange Tabby's
