A year ago, I had quit a job because I thought I wasn't getting paid enough. Because I was naive, I became enraged after I asked my boss for a raise which was denied.

My resignation stated that I would not help to train a new employee if one was acquired to take my place. I also mentioned that I would not remember the management, as well as thanking them for wasting my one year of life for the unappreciated experience. For enjoyment, I threw in a line "PS: This is my formal declaration of independence from ............" because I sent it in on July 4th....

Generally, I want to know if I am able to get hired again at that job. Would my chances increase if I got a manager's recomendation? How about having a high school diploma?

Thnx for your input! Advice appreciated!!

OUCH. You really burned your bridges there. You may not have been paid as well as you should be (not knowing what you were doing or what the going rate is, I can't answer that one) but by engaging in such a spectacular display of immaturity, you've pretty much ruined the chances of getting a manager's recommendation. I wouldn't even bother trying to get that job back, or any other job with that company, for at least five years, because that kind of exit is the stuff of office legends.

If another company has a similar position open, you might consider trying there... but I woudn't advise using one of your former managers at that job as a reference.

Get your HS diploma, and move on.

I don't think you have a great chance at getting that particular job back. I mean its possible, so no harm calling your old boss, bringing it up, maybe laughing a bit about what you said, and then asking - but I think your chances may be slim. Still, hey if you want that job back may as well give it a shot.

If it doesn't work out, there are many jobs out there, just start looking other places maybe you'll find the perfect one somewhere else.

You need to be more careful about what you say when you quite. If it is a large corporation email the top and see if you are eligible to be rehired. Then talk to management and tell them there was more going on then they knew about, as well as, you grew up. The manager is human and he may respect you for doing it. So good luck to you.

Talk to the manager. Find out who makes the hiring decision. Talk to that person and have a "heart to heart." Good luck.

Because the manner in which you resigned was less than professional, I'm going to say that your chances are slim to none.

I doubt any competent HR department would re-hire someone who quit in that manner.

You would be foolish to work for a company so incompetent that they would hire you again.

well, if they put in a statement on your employment record, my guess is you would not be hired on very willingly.
