ok people seriously you think I would just let my cat sit in pain if i could do anything about it? I should have been told more about it,I am stationed overseas and the most possible next appointment I could get was 8:30 in the morning,it was already 9:30 at night here when I posted this.If I didnt care about my cat I wouldn't have posted this at all.So please feel better for thinking you would do everything right. To everyone (which were few) that gave me the advice I asked thank you and we are keeping him next to his litter box with food and water until tomorrow morning.I swear some of you people are ridiculous.Again thank you to the people that answered my question and didn't go off on your soap box about how quikly I should get my animal to the hosital, trust me if there was a 24 vet clinic where I lived the matter would have been solved.

Ouch! I hope you plan to stay up with the kitten to watch it overnight. That way, he doesnt' move too much and do further damage to his leg. I'd say to confine him to a small room with his litter box, water, and food bowls...good luck. I hope he's o.k.

Try to stop the wee guy from moving around to much, try to get some food and water into him while you call a few vets. Sometimes you luck out and one does uncomplicated procedures free once in a while. If there's no luck, or you do have luck but cant keep him, no kill shelters, foster homes and cat sanctuaries do exist. If you can get his splinted/casted up nicely maybe you can keep him long enough to find him a loving home. Wanted ads, newspapers, even make a poster saying FREE kitten in need of some TLC! Just make sure he doesn't go back on the street, and that if you do give him away let the person know he'll need to see a vet for follow up. Work out some questions you can ask them to ensure theyre not the types to just break his other leg. Homeless animals just need a leg up (pun not intended) to worm their way into someones heart, they'll do the rest.

You need to find an emergency vet in your area - use www.yell.com to find one that is open 24/7.
DO NOT attempt to bandage or splint the leg yourself, you're more likely to cause more damage. Broken legs needed to be treated asap or all sorts of things can go wrong. The kitten will be in a lot of pain although it will be unlikely to show it - at a minimum it needs proper pain relief, something you can't provide yourself. Keep the kitten quiet and don't move it any more than is necessary, offer it food and water but don't expect it to eat, until you can get him to a vet - don't wait until the morning!

EDIT: Please don't take cfury's word that your cat has 'just' torn a ligament - just because that's what happened to his cat does not mean that's what's happened to yours! A broken leg will NOT be 'better in a couple of days'!

First, call your vet. They will have a 24-hour emergency number. Even if you can't get in until the morning, they may call you back with some advice. But if they don't, the best thing you can do is keep the kitty as quiet as possible. (Good luck.) Maybe you could gently tape a small piece of wood to the leg to keep it immobile. If the wood was longer than the leg, it would be impossible for the kitten to even try to walk. Don't give it anything for pain unless your vet tells you to. What works for us can be poison for a cat. I'm afraid you're in for a long night, but I'm so glad you're getting him in first thing in the morning. In the meantime, try to keep him in a quiet room, but don't leave him alone. Just try petting him gently and talk to him quietly and soothingly to keep him calm.

She is right I think you should get him in now, I am a nurses assistant and I know that broken bones can cause an embolism. That is when bone marrow or a piece of fat goes through the heart. I would keep him still, Less movement is best. You could pick up meds at the 24 hr vet if you can't get there, right away. Man I hope he will be O.K. Good Luck.

It's very hard with a kitten but try and keep him as still as possible. Put him in a his cat carrier if he has one. The sooner you get him to the vets the better. It does sound like his leg is broken, on the positive side cats are very resilient creatures and have remarkable powers of recovery.

That's what happened to my cat about a year ago. She slipped when she had her leg under a cupboard and got spooked, hurting her leg. She was meowing really loud and flinging her hurt hind leg when she ran off. I felt so bad for her because she tried to walk over to me but rolled on her back and cried. We took her to the vet and he said the cat tore a ligament. There wasn't really anything we could do for my cat except keep her confined in a small area. Move your cats water/food bowls close to the litter box. If there is an open lid around the litter box, remove it so your cat has easier access. Keep him on stable surfaces and try to keep other pets away from him. I know its hard to see your pet in pain, but he will be better in a couple days.

PLEEEEEEZE take him to the vet. There must be an ER vet around. How would you feel if you broke your leg and you couldn't go to the doctore until the morning. The pain alone would send you over the edge. Please take him to the vet. Home remedies, I don't really think giving him tylenol is good for an animal. Splinting would not work either as he may just shake it off. - I urge you to please take him to the vet.

I agree with others, PLEASE find yourself an emergency vet to take him to, or try calling another vet's office that might have later hours. If you call your regular vet's number, there should be an emergency number to contact in the recording if they are unavailable. DO NOT WAIT PLEASE!!! He is just a baby and needs immediate medical care for this! Good luck and let us know how he is.
