The statement was symbolic.
If you have a mountainous problem, try applying a little faith!
If you don't have any... well, it won't work.

Well considering you got that verse all wrong...
If you have the faith of a mustard seed, God will do the rest.
Now moving mountains is one that talks about God will move a mountain for you, but you have to bring a shovel. It's a saying..when you actually use it as a parable and not literal..It means he will do anything for you, but you have to work at it also...he doesn't just "give" you anything you want...

You are missing the point. If faith can be the size of a mustard seed, then faith is physically tangible and subject to observation and measurement. To date, nobody has found even a microgram of faith.
Alternatively, the bible passage is yet another example of meaningless empty rhetoric.

First, let me point out that I am a christian and I will not be 'converted' to atheism or any non-christian sect.
That being said, I have asked your particular question of quite a few, including ministers, fellow christians, and one bishop.
All answered along the lines of ' those gifts have been rescinded'
True, I have not seen any moving mountains, healed lepers, recovered blind folks, etc. but I will definitely keep looking.
Jesus did say that certain signs would accompany those who believe, to wit:
"And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
I have found no mention, in the Bible or in any of the non-canonical books that I have read, of any rescindment of these signs.

Who is "they"? Are these friends of yours? What denomination? Mainstream Christians don't go around asking people to "worship their god" etc. If you mean "fundamentalist" say so; it's not that hard to spell. Lousy question from a top contributor.
