I know we must forgive our leaders that do wrong we must offer full forgivness, and encourage them like we do any other sinner that has fallen. But God says to forgive and give ppl chance after chance after chance, turning the other cheek. Tho I do believe that any fallen leader that is Christian, must go thru a time of redicating their life to the Lord and take time out for serious reflection on where they are with Jesus and how they went wrong, and then after a period of time, do not just automatically assume their role back in leadership. I think that needs to be earned by proving they have changed to those they have let down. Its not for punishment, But there are consequences to our actions, even God gives that. You are correct that we should say enough is enough, and they need to learn to earn their chance back to be in the position they were in, after a long period of doing right again. THo still welcome in churches, etc. When a church no longer holds its ppl accountible to the word of God, we are in serious position that will bring on curse. Forgivness is one thing. Letting someone back in and taking off right where they started is another. If they are truly repentant, they wouldnt mind going thru this process. We cannot remain silent. Silence is what has allowed so much to come into the churches today that is not of God. Speak up and be heard Christians. And certain things should cause them to lose that position all together, as in priests molesting children They lost the right to have parents put their children in a position to be hurt again, and if repentant, they will know that and step down on their own, with no doubt of what is right. Tho, they can be forgiven, as God says to forgive everyone. Hurting ppl hurt ppl, and must be forgiven, but it is sheer silliness to put someone like that in that position again and put the kids at risk for more abuse. Thanks for the great question.

yes. and how bout this... when parents make mistakes... why arent they made to start over and have only authority as that of children .. that would help the household to run well wouldnt it
while we're at it, lets look at some other stuff -
when a pilot makes a mistake that involves injury or deaths, they dont strip him of his rank, but make him take more training.
when a doctor is brought up on charges for wrongful death of a patient, he isnt reduced to being a candy striper.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candy_striper
but instead the insurance kicks in and covers it and he goes on with his credentials and his practice.
when a driver makes mistakes that might involve injury and death of others, in most cases his license to drive isnt taken away.
.
newt G... might be no better or worse than anyone else.

Hypocrisy (which to be fair, is not limited to Christians) needs the tacit agreement of those within the fold to keep the lie alive. People consent to awful behavior be their own kind because they are1) afraid of being confronted by them about their own behavior and 2) don't want to be ostracized by the group.. They want to belong. It's a desire to fit in with those like ourselves.
At its finest, that desire puts aside punishment and is the essence of forgiveness. At its worst, it is a cowardice that allows the kind of behavior we saw in Nazi Germany.

Dear starguy,
The Bible states in Matthew 7:1-5, "Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye."
The Scripture is telling us to check our own closet before we start attempting to go into someone else's.

It's not about leadership with these guys. It's about money and power and they fight to keep it anyway they can.
