Seriously, what is with you ladies? i mean I know some of the nicer guys arent that assertive but there are alot of us who also know exactly what we want and are willing to go for it, and you whine about the jerks treating you so badly and you dont give us a chance at all. its mindboggling.
I just want to freaking understand why you say one thing and act in a totally different one.

I'm a guy, but I had a female friend tell me that it has to do with attraction and being predictable. Sometimes being predictable isn't a challenge and decreases the attraction where the stupid jerks are a challenge and seen as more exciting.
I still don't understand it completly either!

Same reason guys go out with the hot girls who have no personality. They're looking for action, not a stable relationship. Eventaully they realize that they want a guy who loves them and will support them, when the girl matures enough to realize this then they'll go out with the nice guys. Some people realize this earlier, and some never do.
