I really believe it is emotional pain. The reason I say that is you hear of a woman giving birth, or a person in a bad wreck, and they don't remember the specific pain.. Yes they will tell you it hurt, but they don't feel it anymore. On the other hand you have emotional pain. A spouse breaks your heart, You have a child die. It seems like the pain never goes away. I guess it would be nice to never hurt, but we all know that is never going to happen. huh?

I would say that physical pain heals faster, I read somewhere that it is the easiest to forget. But emotional pain can last forever and I truly believe that it leaves the deepest scars. One can say that you never forget your first love or the death of a loved one. That pain lays on your heart forever.

Physical wounds heal, but the mental ones seem to leave a lifelong imprint. At least in my experience.
