Pugs are people dogs. Their greatest satisfaction comes from being with their humans. Try not to leave your new family member home alone much...you might return to a huge mess. I have a 2 year old black pug and he is my shadow! When he first came home with me, as a puppy, he would get out of his cage and tear into everything while I was gone. I soon learned to use locks on his cage to keep him contained. He also chewed on everything imaginable! I give him treats specifically made for him to chew on and that has helped a great deal. Pugs are fantastic and you will have a ton of fun! Just be patient and help her to understand what the rules of your house are.

google puppy training or pug or what ever you want to know. I just adopted a dog as well and I know nothing about dogs google is the way to go. At the beginning it might be a little frustrating because you never needed to deal or clean up after a dog but then it pays and it's well worth it. For me even after 3 weeks plus is still frustrating sometimes but then when he plays with you or look at you with his cute eyes all the frustrations just goes away. Good luck!!This will be a fun adventure for you and the family.

I own a 4 month old fawn female pug and there great dogs but with any dog you get u get problems of all kinds health, temperament, social skills, i mean a lot things. they come with baggage just like we do especially an adopted dog that has been throught god knows what but then again u can get lucky. With my pug ive been lucky health wise :D she is potty trained and crate train but she will run from me when i take her out to potty and run across the street not knowing if a car is coming and it pisses me off and scares me since she might get ran over and she will run to people wanting to play and she will jump on them and try to bite and i have done many things all types of training and im really patience with her but i mean its a lot of work!!! PUGS SHED A LOT I MEAN ALOTTTTTTT!!!! i hope u have leather sofas dont let her on ur bed and clothes u will be full of it. pugs are puppies until the reach the age of atleast 2. there gentle dogs fun loving clowns. go on yahoo and search pugs and lot of info will come up. GOOD LUCK with ur new baby oh and they sneeze out a lot of snot and spit

whatever u do...do not panic. let the dog explore the environment itself. before u even get the dog put all small pieces that it can reach or even swallow! bring the dog to the vet to get its shots so that the pug can go outside if u need it to. get 1 or 2 toys for the pug at its age. but DO NOT PANIC!! that is the last thing you want to think about is panicking, things or things that might go wrong. because dogs know what u are feeling!

Since she is a black dog, you don't want to have her in the sun for too long because she'll get really hot! Make your house comfortable. Potty train and crate train her fast. Pug's get aggressive when they are older, so be ready for that.

Dogs in general: they need two meals a day, a good grooming about once a week, a bath about once every two months or less (every month or so if allowed outside), free access to water, training, and lots of tlc! :)
Pugs: their face wrinkles need to be cleaned once a week or more, and you need to make sure that she doesn't get to hot, or she will overheat. She may snore a lot, just to let you know. :)

is it a puppy or adult dog? either way, make sure you have lots of chew toys, a bed for her, collar and leash. get a book on pugs specifically and read up on them. i would also take the animal to the vet to make sure she is healthy and up to date on all of her shots. keep an eye on it even if it is an adult, sometimes even if they are housetrained, they will have accidents in a new environment. give her a bath and a pink bow and she'll fit right in! good luck with your new dog.

WELL FIRST YOU NEED DETAILS...HOW OLD IS SHE? WAS SHE AROUND OTHER ANIMALS? IS SHE SPAYED? WAS SHE DE-WORMED? DID SHE HAVE ANY OR ALL OF HER SHOTS YET? THE BEST ADVISE IS JUST LOVE HER AS MUCH AS YOU CAN! AND OBVIOUSLY FEED HER & MAKE SURE SHE HAS WATER BUT YOU ALREADY KNEW THAT!!! LET ME KNOW!!!
