just curious, are any of you overweight or divorced? i ask this because gluttony and divorce is a sin, and all sins are the same in god's eyes. why is it ok for you to sin, but not someone else?

they get by with divorce as long as it meets certain stipulations. As for the overweight....you can be fat but not overindulging.

That's how they'd rationalize it.

How I would rationalize it? None of it is a sin.

Having homosexual inclinations is not sin. Practicing the lifestyle is sin. Gluttony, divorce, etc. are sins also. Christians are not to practice sin. Often they mess up. Then they should confess their sin to God and ask His forgiveness and cleansing. I don't think all sin is the same in God's eyes. If they were, He would not call some abominations (like witchcraft). Any sin will keep a person out of heaven since heaven is a holy place, but a person's punishment in hell will be less if he commits fewer sins. A lot of sins are committed in ignorance. They are not judged as severely in my opinion.

Whether you were serious or not you have hit upon a basic tenet of Christianity.

We are ALL sinners. Every single person alive today.

So, we must all seek God's plan of salvation to avoid being cast into Hell.

*** Additional Notes ***

I noticed a couple of things that warranted attention.

One user describe Hell as eternal separation from God. This is true. However, we need to be careful not to overlook that it is also eternal torment in a lake of fire. This is not something we would want anyone to have to suffer through.

Another says that the homosexual that is a believer will not go to Hell. This is true in a way. The homosexual that is a believer will be a former homosexual. If they continue to practice homosexuality then their salvation experience is suspect and they should re-evaluate whether they are truly saved or not.

One last user said that he did not wish to change anyone. Well, to some degree this is appropriate I suppose. However, every Christian should seek to warn (and hopefully change) every nonbeliever. We should be very concerned about everyone's eternal destiny.

No, I am neither. We sin, but we don't say it's okay. Everyone sins. I will admit that homosexuality is a sin, lying is a sin, stealing is a sin, killing is a sin, gluttony is a sin, lust is a sin, etc. I don't say that these sins are not sins, I only say that homosexuality is as well. They will go to Hell. If I don't repent, I will too. We are all equal in God's eyes.

All sins are forgiveable except the unforgivable sin. But I would like you to know there are some Christians out here ( like me) that aren't so judgemental. I believe a certain way and other people don't. I don't want them to change them any more than I want them to change me. If they want to have a discussion about our different beliefs - that's fine. I hope that what I can bring to the table will influence them - but if it doesn't - so be it. Christians believe in freedom of choice.

I'm not overweight or divorced but I do know that sin is sin. It's not ok for ANYONE to live in sin, whether that sin is; over-eating, adultery or perversion. Each sin needs to be repented of.

Homosexuality is a sin, but if a homosexual is a believer, I personally don't believe that he or she will go to Hell because "for it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." ~Ephesians 2:8-10 (New International Version)~

And you're right, all sin is the same in God's eyes. I apologize for the Christians who have placed judgment on this issue because it is not their place to do so.

You understand a truth most people do not want to see.
ALL have sinned
Sin leads to death (eternal separation from God) Hell
Jesus exchanged His life for our sins on the cross
We now can have eternal life by accepting the work of Jesus on the cross.
As we have become Christians we MUST turn away from sins and live a life pleasing to God by following the New Testament teachings.
Anyone who holds on to his/her sins remains in death and separation.

Some Christians are remarkable in the ability to convince themselves that they no longer sin. Such as these are more able to convince themselves that gays and lesbians are in a continual state of sin, and that they themselves are not.

Being gay is a sin because it is a choice against God Almighty.

I'm divorced. The difference between my sin and and a sodomite is that I admit my sin and receive forgiveness for it.
