I tried to trade my soul for the ability to play the guitar. Nothing happened right away which led me to two possibilities.

1. Satan already knew I was going to Hell so my soul belonged to him anyway.

2.Satan didn't actually exist.

However, it is now twenty years later and I can play the guitar like a madman. So my questions are:

1. Is my ability to play the guitar a result of all the years I put into practicing and my eagerness to learn?

2. Or is it a result of my deal that I wagered with the devil, and now I am damned to an eternity in the lake of fire.

(I was very ceremonious with a lot of chanting, some incantations I learned from a book, a little bit of bloodshed, and a goats head. Also, when I think back, I really didn't specify any limits timewise.)

Soundtrack- I e-mailed you an answer.

But for anyone else who wondered, no, I don't know much about music theory.

I play by ear.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

You're two possibilities are negative.

1. Satan doesn't know who's going to hell, but he accuses everyone trying to take them down with him.

2. Satan does exist. The name means "the accuser". Before he was called Lucifer, "bearer of light" and led worship in heaven. He is something of an incredible musician.

As for your questions:

1. Yes, if you were enthusiastic enough to chant and kill a goat, you probably put that energy into practicing.

2. You cannot actually sell your soul to the devil. Jesus Christ paid for it in full when he sacrificed himself on the cross. Jesus owns your soul.

Didn't this movie come out not too long ago? Sounds very familiar.
Since you can't sell you soul. I think it's safe to say that your ability to play a wicked guitar is a direct result from years or practice.

You should not play around with the Spiritual world. No one can sell their soul to get to Heaven. Jesus Christ made the way to Heaven for all mankind. It is through Him and Him alone that anyone will ever get to Heaven. He paid the price, not you. Whether you are a good person or not is not the point. We are all born with the sin nature, we are stained from birth. Jesus Christ is the only one who can take away the stain of sin so that we can gain access to God. Pray to Jesus for forgiveness and be set free.

This is stolen from the story about Robert Johnson who supposedly sold his soul at the crossroads for the ability to play guitar brilliantly.

Speaking of selling your soul, this excerpt is from the movie Crossroads. No Ralph Machio didn't play a lick of this.

We got a little Robert Johnson in our hands!!!! I think most deals with the devil are supposed to work right away, thats why people make the deals in the first place, they dont want to wait 20 years, i think satan was to busy for you my friend

Do you have a receipt? Can the Devil produce a bill of tender? If the answer to these questions are both "no", then no you did not sell your soul.
If he has it and cannot produce documentation that he paid you fair market value for it, then he would have to surrender it back to you as it is your private property.

Of course you sold your soul to the devil, but Jesus can redeem it for it you if you have had a change of heart. Also I think that you can renegotiate your deal with the devil and use Jesus as a straw man. If I took this route, I'd ask for health, wealth, and fame.

I've not seen too many madmen playing guitar, so I'm wondering if you're telling the truth. I'm going to take a shot and declare you've sold your soul to a hamster with horns.
