Yes He could. No He can't.
Both are correct answers. The first answer is correct because God could destroy the universe.
No He can't because He promised mankind that He would not do this. As long as man is on earth, God will never destroy it or the things that surround it.
He can destroy everything when the time He gave mankind runs out, then He said He will not destroy but restore, so unless He's put a 'clause' in His word that allows this kind of action, then no He can't because once God and His word are divided, God would cease to be God.

I have to disagree with the idea we as humans are not at the stage of destroying this planet. Just keep bombing away and destroy the air. The planet won't be far behind. And how would the destruction of this planet effect the Universe? But in a word. If "God" wanted to , yes.

First of all, friend, who do you think created the heavens and the earth? This planet was created by God and by Him only. So if He created everything, then He can destroy everything in which He had created, including you and me, and He will in His time, be His will and for His glory destroy all.
So the answer is definitely YES! "Whatever the Lord pleases, He does."
(Psalm 135:5-7), which reads, "For I know that the Lord is great and that our Lord is above all gods. Whatever the Lord pleases, He does. In heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps. He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; Who makes lightnings for the rain, Who brings forth the wind from His treasuries."
God's thoughts are not our thoughts, nor are our ways His. He states that in (Isaiah 55: 8-10)
With God's own hands He had created all, and by His own hands He can and will and has destroyed.
"We are the clay, and You our potter." (Isaiah 64:8)
(Second Peter: 3:12) "looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!
There are many verses in the Holy Bible to read which will confirm that the earth and all it contains will be destroyed. I would suggest exploring your Bible and seek the written word of God the author, who has bestowed upon every human to read His word.
I have and will continue to do so until the day I die. We must always strive to seek the truth and not what has been told to us by others, that there isn't a God and that He didn't create the world. Enjoy, your reading, friend. And may you richly be blessed in the reading of the written word.

I love the implications of your typing error-'Could God destory the universe?' Its the word destory that caught my imagination. We take comfort in the stories of our time; how the universe began, how it will end. You seem to be talking about 3 things here: an omnipotent overlord, the creator, preserver, destroyer god of Hinduism and early Judaism: a self-regulating planetary ecology, and a universe determined largely by chaos theory. I keep an open mind and remember the super volcanoes under Lake Toba in Indonesia, Yellowstone Park in USA and the Big One in the Canary Islands. With those three environmental/geological triggers alone, the idea of an omnipotent god or even chaos theory seem to pale into insignificance. Of course there are some cultures and religions that see volcanoes as being divine or demonic behaviour.

God can destroy the universe, but he won't until Judgement day. He can't destroy it before because if He did, then God would be breaking his promise to never destory the Earth again. It's relating to Genesis 9:11. And God doesn't break His promises. He never had and never will.

God created the universe therefore, He has the right to destroy it if He wants to but He won't. He loves us too much that He won't let his anger or disappointment over the people's lack of love for Him or their ungodly ways affect Him or make Him forget his promise.
When He brought on the flood in Noah's time because the people were turning ungodly, he made a covenant that He will never bring a flood to destroy every living thing on earth and then a rainbow appeared in the sky to remind Him of his promise.
Have you seen rainbows after heavy rains appear in the sky? That is to remind all of us that God is keeping His promise.

Well, first one would have to assume that a GOD exists. Then one would have to assume that this GOD is:
1. Omnipotent (All powerful)
2. Omniscient (All seeing)
3. Omnipresent (Exists everywhere in all time/space)
If a GOD possesses these three attributes, then I guess it could destroy the universe. But one would think that this GOD has other things on its mind besides this tiny Universe (in God's eye anyway).

Every ceation of God has been designed to have an ultimate life, after which it shall come to an absolute end.God has never intended to end up things with an abortive action but in the natural pattern of its design. We cannot but attribute all wisdom, consistency and farsighted to God;as such no abortion like is expected but He can definitely destyroyed anything which He has created.Since human beings have not been able to have a full comprehension of creation as such cannot have a comprehension a destruction scenerario at all.Any conjecture in this context shall be but stupidness.

Humans don't have the intelligence to destroy the universe. In fact, God's universe is winding down as we speak, in preparation for a new heaven and Earth.

I think God could destroy the universe if he wanted to, but why would he want to destroy his creation? For that matter why would God destroy any of his creations, especially Jesus? The fact is that he didn't - men did. God does not want to destroy our planet either. Unfortunately all of those who follow the bible as fact and are constantly focused on "the end" are actually manifesting it with their thoughts. Hence all of the natural and man made destruction occuring. If we all focused on the here and now, on living, on healing the planet and caring for fellow man, things could change. But all of the doomsday/ judgement day BS has to end.
