Christians, does it sadden you that Atheist live a life more like Jesus wanted people to live than you do? They seem to have more love in their hearts than a lot of you Christians.

Atheists generally.

I have never had an atheist tell me I am wrong for what I believe, either here on Yahoo or in the real life I lead. The atheists here on Yahoo seem to be pushing the buttons of the Christians, which I think is fine. If the Christians don't want their views to be challenged, then they need to go to an all Christian site.

I see many Christians on here and in the real workd telling me and others that we are going to hell for a million different reasons. Any Christian who needs to open a conversation with that or needs to put that in a post really has no clue how to discuss their faith in constructive ways.

I usually will post on the Christian's questions if I believe they are trying to bait and be judgemental of non-Christians. That, in my opinion, happens about - oh - 100 plus times a day as a guesstimate.

Morals and values have nothing to do with religion. Beliefs are what seperate Christians from Atheists. Neither can possibly accept the others beliefs. If an Atheist accepted the believers belief, he wouldn't be an Atheist. If a strong religious believer thought as an Atheist, he would have no religion.

That depends on the morals in question. Depends on the atheist, too. There are certainly atheists of a conservative bent, although they are somewhat rare.

But I think Christians might be more approving of a Muslim's views on gay marriage or abortion than an atheist might (unless it is a conservative atheist we're talking about.) I know as a Christian, I am probably more inclined to live and let live on the issue of hijab than a secularist in France might be, because I can understand the importance of personal piety.

Also, not to generalize too much, but being Christian has helped me to not view other peoples' festivals and rites as quaint. I have a Hindu friend who invites us periodically to various festivals, and I take that more seriously than I once might have.

Well, I'm a Christian and sadly I believe that Atheists are more accepting. Christians have tendencies to be judgmental, which is very contradictory on our part. A lot of Christians DO criticize others for not sharing their beliefs and it makes me sad because it's not our place to say what they are or aren't doing is wrong. Only God is permitted to judge the people of the world.

I have to say, and it always surprises me--as a non-religious person, I have always found that I was more tolerant of religious people than they were of me. I think people should believe and live as they see fit.

When I feel cramped it has to do with laws being overly dictated by religion--i.e., no gay marriage because the Bible says so. There is no reason why people who have different views can't co-exist. I have a choice to find no problem with homosexuality because having consensual sex with another adult is not equivalent to raping your dog (an analogy I've read more than once on R&S). Religious people have the choice to believe it's wrong and to tell their children so, though I hope they won't, especially if their children are gay and really need their unconditional love...I am fine with all of that, way more fine than a homophobe would be with my position. The difference is they want the law to reinforce their way of thinking, while I want the law to always champion freedom.

I'm a Christian and unfortunately must admit that Atheists are a far more accepting group (in general) than Christians.

The only acception I find is the (very) few atheists in this section who blantatly hate christians and justify it because "Christians have treated them so badly and are so intolerant."

Other than that, ALL my exposure to atheists has been POSITIVE. They seem to be a very accepting and non-judgemental group. Christians, despite being commanded to "judge not," tend to think everybody else is bad and going to hell, a judgment their own belief system says only God can give.

Christians forget that Jesus spent vast amounts of his time with "publicans and sinners." In other words, Jesus spent most of his time with people who were not faithful and were not obeying the commandments. What did he do with them while he was with them? He loved them.

As Gandhi Said: "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians, they are so unlike your Christ"

Thanks for the good question.

Atheists, quite easily.

As a non Christian Theist it is easy to notice that the Atheists are by far more accepting of other people's ideas than the Christians who post here.

I'm sure that atheists have a more accepting attitude toward others values and beliefs (doesn't mean the person but their beliefs). Even Jesus said "straight is the way, and narrow is the path, and few there be that find it"...

well i would say atheist would more accepting of peoples morals, values, and beliefs...and i am Christian just for the record. I only believe that because i atheist dont know or care about God...therefore they will allow Homosexuality, abortion, people who have children but are not married.... Christians however only disregard all of those beliefs i listed above because God is against it... and it is for our own good but some people in this world just will never come to realize that... God bless!

In general, neither. I don't judge a group just cause I know a few people who use the title.

I don't think one's religion has MUCH to do with how accepting they are. Rather, how and where they were raised. If your parents were accepting of all kind then they probably raised you that way. If they weren't accepting and raised you that way, you probably won't be accepting either. Religion can factor in, but it didn't in my home. My family was Christian, but I think like a decent human being and accept all people.
