Gluttony is a sin, and if you don't turn from your sins, you go to hell...right?

So, do people who die fat go to hell, because they never turned from their sin of gluttony?

Or are Christians purposely gaining weight to try to kill themselves...so they can get to heaven sooner and leave this terrible unGodly world?

Your thoughts?

i have not seen one good answer to this question. seems like some people are trying to avoid it.

there are many fat people in the US and many of those people are christian. yes, gluttony is a sin, so yes, they're going to hell, but apparently they don't think THAT part of the bible applies to them!

(but they're amung the first to tell gays about sinning and going to hell)

Because overeating is easier to justify than other sins. After all, you have to eat and besides, food and fellowship go together (for example, pot luck dinners). People don't go to hell for being fat. People go to hell for not repenting for their sins. Repentance is a continual process for a Christian. No one can go even a day without committing some sin. Christians tend to care less about their physical health, I think, because prolonging life is not a priority with them.. Christians who are doing what they're supposed to aren't really having that great a time here on earth. There are a lot of trials. Denying the flesh isn't easy. Some people use food as an anti-depressant. For the record, I am not overweight.

I think most christians are hypocrites. Just read the newspaper celebrity gossip section and you would know my point. Or they have little faith. A good christian will try to teach others the way of Lord with unselfish purpose. They never do research on their religion. Apologetics is necessary for every christian. And haven't you read that "It is easier to for a camel through the eye of a needle than a rich man through the gates of heaven"? They actually do not work whole heartedly for the benefit of humanity which every christian should do. Their help only extends to their neighbours and their works might bear no fruits and yet they take plenty of fruit(like working in a bank - what is the use? They break the command of God of not giving money with interest or taking it, making the poor poor and rich richer. Isn't a farmer greater?) and become fat. They do not realise that they are not walking in the path of God and do not think that they are sinning from any possible way.

I'm a Christian, but I do not go around barking at people for their 'sins'. I'm cool with other people's beliefs and about Gays and Lesbians! I'm also a Democrat! My wife, for that matter is a social worker, and I've been an elementary teacher for six years at a Montessori School. It pretty much doesn't get too much more liberal then that! But, I don't appreicate it that people focus on other people having weight problems. I used to be a Body Builder and I'm still into Power lifting and Jujutsu martial arts, but I really struggle with snacking and eating too much sugar. I've recently cut-out soda and soft drinks and I'm losing weight. But, it's really difficult for me and my wife. We're both overweight and I notice people's attitude in the line at the grocery store, and the sassy child who likes to say, "He's really Big!" and the parents don't correct the child for Blurting out personal comments. It's not a very Honorable thing to be oveweight, it SUCKS. What's more is that people usually guess that I weigh 200 pounds, they are usually shocked to hear that I am 300! Like I said, I lift weights, and I'm usually the guy in the gym that people like to stop and watch as I bench press or do squats! But, I'd give all that away if I could be the really thin fast runner who can do marathons and mountain climb! It hurts me a little bit to hear people make harsh remarks about other who are overweight! I can undersand how that Christians are annoying, pretty much (eventhough I'm a Christians) they annoy me too! But, I wish people would not focus on other people and focus on their own problems. This goes for both Christian and Non-Christians!

I know a lot of gluttons that are not obese. And some obese people who are not gluttons. So before people start feeling virtuous because they are not fat, they should learn about studies scientists are doing that prove eating has less to do with obesity than most people think. I've always realized this through common sense. No I'm not fat, but I knew a woman who weighed over 400 lbs. who ate normally, and another woman who ate two big macs plus fries for lunch, weighed 103 at 5' 7'' and complained because she couldn't gain.

The question I want to pose is

NOT,

Why are so many Christians obese?

BUT,

What are the

REASONS

many Christians are obese? If you know why, you have a better chance of correcting the problem than having a judgmental

SOUNDING

question.

No, because a lot of our churches have pot lucks and no one diets during that time.

I think you will see some very fat and some very skinny people in Heaven.

Let's consider you for a moment, okay?
Reading Psalm 1, verse 1, which are you?
Walking, standing, or sitting?
Re-read your question, examine your motive and attitude, let's see what you decide.
