If you are over 18, no. If you are cutting yourself, you could use an uninvolved person to help you understand why you are hurting yourself.
A therapist can help you understand the emotions behind the cutting. A therapist is on your side and is there only to help you stop the behavior. I think, one on one couseling will help you enjoy your life better. Why waste your young years hiding cut marks, get out there with short selves and go have some fun. Besides, short selves are much cooler in the summer.
When I was younger and in a bad marriage, I took a razor to my wrist, I didn't cut I just scraped my skin, but I did it to make my loner of a husband notice me. Yea, you guessed it he didn't notice anything. I am glad at least I didn't have any scars.
Let the therapits help you understand why you cut yourself and cause yourself pain.
There are people that truly care about you. I wish you well, and no more cutting it just brings you more pain. Talk about instead to a therapist would be great and you will feel so much better. Don't be afraid, gosh after all you are not afraid of the pain of cutting, don't be afraid if there is some emotional pain, before you get to the cause of the cutting.
It took counseling to get over the lonely marriage.

Depends on your mom but she probably would want you to go willingly and might not make you but doesn't mean she doesn't want you to go. And if she does make you she still can't talk for you and tell your theraprist how you feel. Cutting is a problem and I think you should at least try going into therpry but some people don't even need it like they stop cutting on their own so I guess it depends on how bad you are too.

You can make yourself get some help. You deserve better for your life than hurting yourself.
The hardest step in anything in life is the first one.
You just made that step by asking for advice on here.
Your mum loves you, and would do anything she could possibly to to help you in anyway she could. Sometimes accepting help from those closest to us is harder than accepting help from strangers. Go and have a chat with your Dr on your own, take some advice, and see if you are ready for help yet.

if your deemed a risk to yourself or to others then there are laws that will see you in a mental institution. why wouldnt you want to talk? you prefer to cut yourself? or is it that you know deep down that you have nothing to talk about and you are just seeking attention? so many ppl have a bad lot in life and dont resort to self mutilation. accept the help, get over it and get on with your life as a stable happy adult.

If you are a minor she can and should make you get treatment. Cutting is something that you will really need professional help to deal with. Good luck, I hope you get better.

Yes she can make you as your legal guardian. If you refuse she can get a court to order you to mental institution because if you are cutting yourself, you are considered a danger to yourself. I say go to therapy because you are a masochist and need help.

u do have a choice but it is her right as a mother and a HUMAN BEING to make u get help for that. It's not a healthy habit and u are obviously being tormented by something that only a professional can help you deal with.

I'm going to agree with cereal killer....
You're cutting yourself. This is a problem. It's not normal or healthy. Your mother is right-- you need therapy, whether you want it or not, whether you like it or not.

From the sounds of things you may need counselling, but that has to be voluntary. It would probably be a good idea to do this from the little information you have provided in your question.
