As a person of faith I readily admit that there are potential drawbacks to my position.

1) If your faith turns out to be wrong (nobody believes in Thor or Odin anymore) than you, and perhaps millions of others, have spent a life time living something that wasn't true at all.

2) If you put too much stock in your faith you can blind yourself to self-evident truths. Instead of believing truth wherever it is found, you only believe what you want to instead of what is real.

3) Tied into both 1 and 2 above, grounding your whole view and existence on a certain belief (or belief system) endangers you of living outside of reality. Ex. Millions of Greeks and Romans believed that lighting was thrown out of the sky by Zeus. Nobody really believes that Zeus has a quiver full of lighting on some cloud these days. However, if someone in modern times was raised to believe that way and taught that any one who says otherwise was lying, they would spend their lives out of touch with the reality of lightning. Just as this example shows, if we refuse to open our eyes to other options and only accept our current faith, we risk becoming terribly blind to the world around us.

Despite these risks faith has benefits I find greatly satisfying, thus I am person of faith.

Thank you for the great question.

the pros and benefits to having faith
Some people are depressed and need help through the day so I guess having faith helps them get through. Also some people are afraid of death with faith you believe that someone will be there to guide you in the end.

Sorry all I can come up with atm.

Well the biggest drawback for me would be that you so kind and loving that alot of people tend to take advantage of you. Oh and sometimes when you talk about your faith they give you this very wierd look, as if they were thinking to themselves..what is this dude on?

Well, pros and benefits. some people just need something to help them thru life. Faith seems to do that. It can give a sense of community.

Faith in Christ is the only way to Salvation. There is none other. I'd say that's a benefit.
