Yes, and I used to have a lot more lucid dreams than I do now, but I stopped the practice encouraged by the Lucidity Institute, and so the dreams stopped. You are encouraged to practice trying to put your right index finger through the palm of your left hand. Of course, you can't do it. But if you do this exercise enough and say to yourself something like, "I am not dreaming now, but when I am dreaming I will be able to do this." And you will! And this is how you know you are dreaming, and from then on in the dream you can do whatever you want. But don't be overjoyed, because you will probably wake up in that case. It's fun and you will be surprised at the things you can do! hehe! You can control your dreams!

This is a very interesting question. When I first heard people talk about lucid dreaming, I thought "Wait, doesn't everybody do that?". I've been able to manipulate my dreams since childhood and I didn't know it was unusual until recently. I still remember one that happened when I was probably 10. I had been fighting crime with a superhero (flying around, beating up bad guys and such) and felt like I'd had enough, so I decided to end the dream. He and I flew back to my house, into my head and each of us took a spot behind an eyelid. We agreed to lift the lids at the same time and immediately after doing so, I woke up. Even then, I guess I realized that was worthy of remembrance. Unfortunately, I don't think I can help you much in the way of advice. It'd probably be like telling you how to flex a muscle or to see the color "red". I wish you the best, friend. Just know... if you can imagine it, it can be.

Well, I have been trying so hard to be lucid, but the longest I can hold lucidity is about 30 "dream seconds" before one of two things happens.

a) I get distracted ex: checking a digital clock (one of the best ways to find out if you're dreaming) realizing i'm dreaming, then a few seconds later going "ooh look, it's the flying spaghetti monster!!!!" and getting distracted from being lucid.

or

b) I wake up. ex: last time I was lucid, I realized I was dreaming because I was frightened to high heck in my dream, and was like, this has to be a dream, pinched myself, didn't feel it, then screamed in my dream (actually made a small noise according to my husband) to wake myself up because it was too darn freaky.

Watch "Waking Life" you will LOVE it.

This is how I did it when I practiced it. I stopped quite a few years ago.
Tell yourself at least three times a day, to remember to look at your hands while you're dreaming.
You want to wake up your conscious mind. Sometimes your hands will distort. Just focus on something else but remember to look back at your hands. If you can do that, you can go to the next step.
Go and see if you can find a mirror. If you can look at yourself without drifting off somewhere else you're good. It might take a few times if you have a lot of responsibility. What you're trying to do is practice your 'will' in a dream.
Once your will becomes strong in your dreams you can do anything you want. There's MUCH more to add but this is good for now.

I'm not. I don't dream much. but I do know a bout it and even did it for a while. You have to 1st. tell yourself thru out the day and before you go to bed that you are going to remember your dreams. You have to do this everyday and night. Once you start remembering your dreams the next step is to reconize when you are dreaming. Little things give you away. Say you look at writing and the next time you look the writing has changed. You have to train your brain to reconize these differences. Once you know when you are dreaming then you can manipulate your dreams consciously.
It takes a lot of practice!
