Race is not a major issue in Australia as it is in the USA. There are some people of particular ethnic or religious origins who prefer that their children marry into their ethnic group or religion but any objections will come from the family not from other Australians. There are many relationships that would be thought of as "interracial" in the USA that are not thought so in Australia and are considered perfectly normal.

By the way, Asia is a big place. An Asian woman could come from Turkey or Israel, Sri Lanka or Siberia or any of the dozens of other countries. If someone's origin is important in Australia it is stated - Vietnamese, Chinese, Malaysian etc - the generic "Asian" is seldom used as a descriptor without qualification.

Our present government, which will be thrown out later this year, has stirred up a lot of vilification against Muslims with its war in Iraq and comments by Little Lying Johnny, our Prime Minister. These are usually directed at those of Middle Eastern appearance by a few rednecks. Don't worry about that, you and your friend will be fine.

Ask those human beings what has handed off to them that has grew to become them into such bigots, and then tell them which you experience sorry that they have the type of closed innovations. i'm a white guy in an ecosystem with a great style of Asian human beings, generally chinese language. I see the nonsense going the two strategies - with the countless greater culturally strict chinese language looking down on the interracial relationships that have shaped, mutually as some white human beings around me discover the relationships to be "no longer widespread". a number of that's basically a reaction to an unusual association, mutually as something is organic bigotry. unhappy, even regardless of the undeniable fact that it occurs. evaluate your self an educator now - do your maximum suitable to grin, and tell them that they are being slightly dopey, and which you and your boyfriend are the two adults who take place to love one yet another - no longer something greater. And right for you which you got here across a soul mate - its no longer the container you get, yet what's in it that concerns.

I have quite a few friends that are dating or married to someone of a different race/ from a different country and they have all had a few things said to them or about them, but for the most part they get treated like every other couple. I am a white, American women and I married a white, Russian man. I didnt think we would get treated any different because the color of our skin is the same (I think its sad that the color of anyones skin would even matter or make a difference, but thats obviously the first thing most people see), but boy was I wrong! lol! Well, MOST people treat us like everyone else, but there is always going to be someone that will have something stupid to say! : ( Thats just how people are. American men will say stupid things to me like why would you be with a Russian and Russian women will tell my husband that he is so stupid for being with an American women. It was kind of hurtful to start with, but we love each other and wouldnt want to be with anyone else! His friends and family love me and my friends and family love him! We have each other and thats all that matters, and of course the support from our friends and family helps alot! Now we dont care what people say or think. They arent the ones that are married to me or my husband so whatever they have to say about it doesnt matter in anyway at all! lol! If you two really want to move then I would say go for it, but I hope you arent just moving to get away from ignorant, close minded people, because there are people like that all over the world! You and your girlfriends opinions should be the only opinions that matter! Dont listen to what other people have to say! Just be happy and thanks your lucky starts everyday that you have found such a wonderful person! It really is so sad that some people can judge someone by the color of their skin or where they are from, but thats just how some people are and will always be, that just life and you have to learn to be strong and not let it bother you! I am sorry you two are going through that and I hope things get better! I wish you both the best fo luck!! And remember, no one else matters!! lol! : )

whats wrong with dating an asian woman?
there are ALOT of white men w/ an asian woman these days.
well back then there were alot too..
but anyways i think you shouldn't just move out of the country because of some idiots that say crap.
but it you have to move, there are lots of asians and caucasians that live there so its pretty much the same as here.

Well - I am a caucasian male married to a Filipina and have never had anyone give me garbage about it. It could be just due to my appearance and demeanor but I don't know that. My best friend who we visited for a month, lives in Beenliegh Australia near Brisbane - also married to a Filipina. We travelled together a lot and never received any comments.

I truly don't know why you attract comments when we never have.

I know heaps of asian/caucasian people in relationships with each other and have never seen them be discriminated against...EVER. We are a multicultural society and mixed marriages are common. I don't know where would be best to live but I think you will be happy anywhere in Australia. Good luck.

Moving to another place is not the answer to your problem. If people you hardly even know frown upon the relationship then its their problem not yours. If you're serious about your partner and vice versa then that's all that matters.
yes, in Sydney, I believe this is not a problem because i see a lot of inter-racial relationships around.

Good luck!

I've never heard of this happening here, in Australia.
I suppose it must have now and again but I doubt it's a major problem. I've known quite a number of couples just like you two and they've never said they've had a problem such as you've described.
Good luck to both of you.

If Australia is the answer, you asked the wrong question. If you have to leave USA go to NZ. I cannot see why Hawaii would not do it for you, if you can afford it.
