Just take a shovel with you to clean up AFTER the dog is done doing its business. Take it WITH you! Please don't bury it deeper!

I am sure that every has different rules. Check with the lifeguard. Personally, leave the dog at home or at least on a leash. Dogs running free are a nuisance. They scare kids, get in your way, and have nasty body functions that you can step on.
When I lived in Morocco they had a good method. They had beach guards and if a dog was running loose, they shot it.
Couldn't believe that when I first saw it. I was thinking what would happen if they missed hitting the dog. I didn't trust their marksmanship, either. I don't mean we should do that, of course, but thought you might be interested in this insane behavior.

It depends on the beach. There should be a big sign posted. Sorry I don't live in your area. Here you can bring your dog and walk all around the lake, but no dogs are allowed on the beach where the people swim.

Normally the dog has to be on a lease at all times. Sometimes animals are not allowed. The best thing to do is to contact the local sheriffs office or animal control and ask.

It really depends on the beach they all have there own rules and regulations
The standard one usually is that they have to be on leashes you have to pick up after them
You have to watch them
Anything else really just depends on the beach

Well here in California, we have to keep our dogs on a leash, maybe you can just bring a leash just to be prepared....
although when ever we get to our little spot on the beach we let her loose to play frisbee... but when the liefguard comes its back on the leash :)

you could check with the visitors center in whatever town you are visiting. usually, they can tell you if dogs are allowed/not allowed at the beach. i live in california, northern, and as long as we have our dog on a leash/and or verbal control, they are allowed. cleaning up after your dog would be a plus for the other beach goers.
