What sort of jobs are available at a tatoo shop? Obviously there are the tattoo artists, but what else goes on behind the scenes to make a shop work? I'm very interested in working in a tattoo shop, but I have no art skills. I just love the works of art and the people!

I used to be an exotic piercer in a tatt shop. There usually aren't any non-artist jobs that aren't covered by the artists' relatives and/or girl/boyfriends.
Most tattoo artists are such egoists, they want thousands of dollars for an apprenticeship, whether they themselves are that great, or not. (And, from what I've seen, only about one in ten ARE that good.)

You can ask around, but I think you'll find that most places will
have an apprentice that will do all the little things, like cleaning the floors, cleaning up after clients leave, sterilizing, go for coffee, go for food......you know what I'm talking about.
Even the receptionist part........the artist like to talk to the customers, they don't want to hear second hand.
All of that will cut down on what they would have to pay someone to do.
The apprentice is paying the shop, so that during slow periods
they can teach him some things......or quietly watch as a tat is being worked on.

It would a state law issue. Since you would be working in a health risk area (dealing with blood borne items) My guess you may have to be 18. My daughter works for a tattoo shop and they required her to be 18 when she started. If you know of a shop, stop in and ask them. They will know for sure.

Most tattoo shops have a receptionist/admin employee to answer phones & check people in (verify age, fill out paperwork, etc). Good luck!
