Parenting is a hard job and sometimes we just don't do a very good job at it despite our best efforts. I have never had a child try to kill themselves, but I can imagine it is terrifying and I can see how one's judgement could be clouded. Any person who has tried to kill themselves, regardless if it was a serious attempt or an attempt that is purposefully designed to not really work, needs professional help and not a punishment. I would not want to pass judgement on another parent, but asking the doctor to needlessly perform a medical procedure really wasn't the best choice in this situation. Regardless if the daughter has never tried to commit suicide again up to this point in her life, it does not mean that she won't try again sometime. Any talk of or act of attempting suicide is a cry for help and needs to be taken seriously.

No, that was the wrong way to go about teaching a lesson. The put their daughter through physical pain for no reason. They should have gotten her therapy instead. The doctor shouldn't have done something like that seeing as how it wasn't necessary. Some people have no feelings at all.

ARE YOU SERIOUS??????????? THAT IS NOT A HUMANE PUNISHMENT!!!!!!!!! I had my stomach pumped when I found my way into some Cataprast (a blood-pressure pill) when I was like 1 1/2. If they wanted to teach their daughter a lesson, they should have either showed her pictures of people that have died of overdoses or whooped her a** something proper...........

There is no doctor in their right mind who would force an unnecessasary procedure on anyone, much less a child. IF this really happened the child should sue the doctor and her parents.

Good lord, of course not. And I really doubt the doctor's unneccesarily pumped her stomach.
Yawn.

Sure do, it takes one time to have to drink that nasty charcoal and usually ends that. But it would be smart to get to the bottom of why she felt she wanted to commit suicide.
