I think it is guys just don't make such a fuss about it.
Most of the time it is the mom who spends most of time with the kids. Running them here and there. Friends overnight and stuff like that.
But we always tried to make it a big deal.
Up until last year (when money got tight) that is when we went on our yearly fishing trip so my husband could relax.

While we fathers are of critical importance to our children, there is a special bond between mother and child. The first human contact any of us ever have is with our mothers. Our mothers are the ones who cuddle us and make us feel better when we are ill.
This special bond continues for a long, long time. Ask any nurse who served in an aid station or surgical unit in the military. They can all tell you stories of big, burly marines and soldiers that lay dying and cried out for their mothers. It is probably the deepest bond we have with another human being.
Mom's are special people. Your mom still believes in you no matter how badly you fail. Mom always listens. When you are a teenager and do everything in your power to drive her away, she will stay with you.
While dads are strong like an oak tree and we need that to anchor us, our moms are strong like a willow tree. She can take quite a bit and she will bend and bend but she does not break. Even dad can depends on mom for comfort.

Sad to say but there are more single mothers then there are dads so that makes mothers day the bigger in retail off the bat. No one will give a dead beat dad a gift but how many dead beat moms have you heard of?
I am lucky to have a great dad and husband and I will get something for them.

Because fathers are not regarded as highly as mothers. Not complaining not answering your question.

Because a dad's perfect day can be achieved with just quiet time to themselves. Whether it's golf with his friends or just a day to gel watching a baseball game, dad can get by with just time to do what he wants as opposed to things that require cash outlays.

Because fathers are useless deadbeats. Once you plant the seeds, you throw away the envelope.

Oh. I think it is. I guess I've never noticed anything to make me think otherwise. Maybe it's a regional thing?
