I live in an apartment right now and there's this $104,000 house I'm looking at. It's BEAUTIFUL. Only problem is, while I can afford the house payment, I won't be able to afford insurance and tax without my budget being uncomfortably tight. If BAH goes up for being a homeowner, then I might be able to do it. I live in Hermitage, TN. I'm an E-4 with 4 years in and Ithe house I want is in Smyrna, TN.

Alright guys. Thanks. That sucks, though. Guess I'll have to settle for a smaller house.

I don't think I'll lie about having kids. I'll just knock my girlfriend up and then give the kid to her parents to raise while I roll in the dough.
Just playin, yall.

BAH remains the same whether you continue to rent or if you buy a home.
See if there are any things you can cut from your monthly expenditures: basically you want to take a close look at everything and determine what are 'wants' and what are 'needs' and cut from there.
So what if things are tight for a while; they won't always be that way. I say you get the house and be happy with a beautiful home and not settle for less. Sure, don't overextend yourself but at the same time even you said it will just be tight...you never said it will be impossible.
So do the possible and get that house:-)
By the way, BAH does not increase again when you have children. It increases when you get married but not again when you have children. BAH with Dependents covers spouses and children...it does not mean the more dependents you have, the more BAH you get/receive.
And, by the way, if boys are what you want to have with your wife, read Dr Shettles book ("How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby"); I read that book and what it says works...we had two boys.

BAH is set renting or buying its the same. Only adjustment for BAH is cost of living for the community around the intallation and rank of course.
Make alower offer and get your insurance and taxes financed with the house. Getting your taxes included in the note is really something you need to do I know a few people that didn't and have really struggled paying taxes.

Your BAH depends on your location and rank. Unless you move (to a different part of the country) or get promoted it will remain the same till the next BAH increase, usually the beginning of the year. You can google BAH and see the chart to find out what you will get if promoted.

NO. BAH is based on average RENTAL costs for the duty station. it will NOT go up if you choose to buy a home or rent for more than what you are entitled to. and there are only 2 rates.. with and Without Dependant. It ois the same rate for you and a spouse as it would be for you, a spouse and ten kids.

Is it conceivable to pay very own loan on a $a million,000,000+ domicile with in basic terms BAH? Doubt it. Is it conceivable to pay very own loan on a sub-$20,000 domicile with in basic terms BAH? in all probability. BAH isn't to purchase a house, yet to lease an residence or domicile. in case you desktops someplace else, you're actually not consistently given BAH for that section and BAH for yet another section in basic terms when you consider which you purchased a house at your final duty station... in case you prefer to maintain that domicile as quickly as you have been moved away, you ought to pay out of pocket or possibility foreclosure. maximum people will locate that BAH extremely covers the fee of renting or they pay somewhat out of pocket reckoning on the place they lease. lease is notably extra low-priced than mortgages in maximum places. no longer in straightforward terms that, yet as a house proprietor, you ought to pay the taxes on the domicile and each thing else that comes alongside with it...

No.
BAH is based on the area you live in (by county / zip code)
Not what you live in (house vs apt).
Here's a link that should help.

Nope, BAH won't go up. It would be nice if it did, because then there would be a lot more military people that would buy houses. I would be one of them.

Your BAH should be based on your zip code not on buying or renting. Check out this website.
