Chiropractor. -- They manipulate the structure of your neck to help improve the pain. If necessary they will send you for x-rays. They do not prescribe medication.
You can also try putting ice packs on it to see if it relieves the pain. I also use Flexall and rub it on the area. And I take an Advil.

I would suggest that you have a physician check it out. In what area of your neck is the pain coming from (front, back, side)? Very often we do things during the day, such as tightening our shoulder muscles when we are stressed out, or perhaps you may have suddenly jerked your neck for some reason, and this has caused the pain in your muscles.
If you can recall what types of activities you were doing prior to the pain, it might help to understand if any one of these activities could have created some muscle pulls or skeletal misalignment
You could also check your pillow. Just because it occurred before bedtime doesn't mean it could not be coming from your pillow being too high, putting excess stress on your spine. When you sleep on your side or back, or tummy, your neck should not be extended so that your spine is out of line in either direction.
You may also consult a chiropractor for advice, but I would first suggest you consult a physician to determine that you do not have anything other than a sore muscle.

Yes put an ice pack on it or some bengay or something of the sort. Try some pain medication and try to move it even if it hurts, you could have pulled a muscle or something. But if that doesn't work, i would recommend a chiropractor. They will fix you right up.

I agree with the above answers but also try rolling a towel up and laying it around your neck when sleeping. It gives the neck support. Use a muscle rub, I use Biofreeze. I got it from my chiropractor.

a center challenge is a probability, but in addition, this sounds an terrible lot like a gallbladder assault. often men and women suppose the discomfort from gallbladder within the proper shoulder or chest, despite the fact that the gallbladder is within the stomach. different signs would comprise nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever or light stools. additionally, the discomfort will by and large aggravate when you devour a meal with plenty of fats in it. gallbladder issues can also be severe, so that you must see a health practitioner if the discomfort persists.
