Great Question! You can tell the difference by the simple fact of right versus wrong. If it's right morally, then it's all God's work, if it's bad, it's the Devil at play. Hope this helped and God Bless!

If you believe the Abrahamic mythology:
It is all the work of the Devil.
God is omnipotent and omnicognizant. He knows everything and can do anything.
He can not use these skills on humans because that would (allegedly) remove our free will.
But so will being blown up by the Devil in a plane 'accident'. So there is no reason to believe that God it restrained from stopping the Devil's plans.
The Devil is not omnipotent or omnicognizant and so is incapable of stopping god from foiling his plans.
So, anything that happens MUST be by the will of god. Good and bad. If the devil succeeds in a plot, it can only because god permitted it.
In reality, neither exists.

No work ever is God's work or devil's work.
All the works that are done are done by man himself, only he is not able to decipher. For human nature is full of greed, and when some thing turns good for his nature, it is good work and Gods, but if something gets bad or against his wishes, it is labelled devil's.

god's work is everything good. devil's work is what is wrong. Sometimes it is not easy to know what is whose work because even bad things seem good. There are some criteries like if it corresponds with the Ten Commandments or when it is about helping someone, it should be from God but if u really want to know(perhaps about decision you are going to made), pray and god will answer you somehow.

The way to tell when something such as an action or if u thik he's telling u something is to compare it to the Word of God. God has a basic nature. He will never change. He won't go against our will. Judge it by the fruit, a bad tree can not produce good fruit and a good tree can not produce bad fruit.
Only knowing the Words Jesus spoke will you know the truth of that which is from God and that which is from Satan.
You have read the bible and do not believe because of all the bad things and laws that Moses gave, but you will not believe in the Words Jesus spoke, therefore believe in the tradition of men.
Jesus told you the God of Moses is Satan, don't you believe what men (the pysical church) tell you.

One way to know is to read the Bible, in James 1:17 the nkv says that Every good and perfect gift comes from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. John 10:10 says that The devil does not come except to steal, and to kill and to destroy. I {Jesus} have come that they {you} may have life, and that they they may have it more abundantly. So there you have it, everything that comes from God is good and from the devil everything is bad even though it can sometimes appear to be good.

God only does works that are good so if something happens and it doesn't apply to scripture that you can assume it's the work of the devil, but truly it is best to ask God himself if your unsure. Pray and listen and open your heart and he will answer. God bless.x

Everything that is natural is God's work-good, bad or indifferent.
When it comes to intervention, either by God or the devil, I think it depends upon how it effect people and the world.
For example, was the destruction of Sodom and Gommorah good for man and the world or bad? Was their behavior good for man and the world or bad?

Very good question! When we have a right relationship with God we have the discernment of the Holy Spirit and Satan will be reviled to us. We must know that Satan knows Gods words as well as God himself does. He will come to deceive us as a peace maker and many will fall under his spell! Do not be deceived! Ask for the Holy Spirit! And the Divils works will be shown to us!
