Peter? Thrice-Deny-Me Peter? Even the BIBLE says he was a dink. Benedict's probably an improvement, funny clothes and opulent surroundings aside.

You are right, what you read about the Vatican, does not go along with the Bible.- first of all Peter, denied Christ 3 x's and was restored - and because of that Peter became humbled. No, I do not think that Peter would live in a Palace- even Jesus was born in a humble manger. I am not saying the Pope is not a good man- so Catholics, please do not be offended I just am saying that the idea of a Pope being perfect is wrong- no one is but Jesus- and He lived in a lowly manger. And died a death on a humble cross.

well first of all Peter was not the first pope, just think if he had been chosen why would the apostles have been argueing about who was greater at the night of the last supper
(Luke 22:24) 24Â However, there also arose a heated dispute among them over which one of them seemed to be greatest.
(Ephesians 2:20) . . .and YOU have been built up upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, while Christ Jesus himself is the foundation cornerstone. . .(not peter)
(Matthew 23:8-12) . . .But YOU, do not YOU be called Rabbi, for one is YOUR teacher, whereas all YOU are brothers. 9 Moreover, do not call anyone YOUR father on earth, for one is YOUR Father, the heavenly One. 10 Neither be called ‘leaders,’ for YOUR Leader is one, the Christ. 11 But the greatest one among YOU must be YOUR minister. 12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
notice don't call anyone your spiritual father, & also there was not to be a clergy class among them
furthermore the Bible tells christians to be no part of the world, especialy politics (which the pope is foremost)
(James 4:4) 4Â Adulteresses, do YOU not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of God.

If Jesus and Peter had a popemobile, Jesus would not have died. And Jesus foretold Peter's manner of death, so he would not have been crucified upside down.
So, prophecy must be fulfilled. Jesus said the rocks would cry if the children had not shouted Hosannas as He entered Jerusalem.
But, concerning the Vatican, it's control of economies, wealth, and infamous history, it was all told us in advance in God's Word, so we need not be surprised.
But many have forgotten the identity of the Abomination of Desolation that Jesus warned us of--we are facing great problems. So God hid a reminder in a secret Bible code. The KEY is found in His 10 commandment law, and you can unlock it's message at http://abiblecode.tripod.com

Too funny and Amen brother.
Would Peter bow down to a statue of Mary as the last Pope did?
Would he allow anyone to call him, "Holy father?"
Would he be clothed in fine garments and a crown like the Pope: http://www.geocities.com/rexstupormundi/papalcrown.html
Would Peter tell nuns to stand around the idol of Mary and worship and pray?: http://www.op-stjoseph.org/nuns/angels/picpages/procession.htm

It is easy for people to pick on the Vatican.
If you are going to determine wealth means evil, then why stop only at the Vatican?
Since your nickname is historybuff33 I am sure you know what blaming rich people, for the ills of the world, leads to.

I suspect he would do something similar to what Jesus did to the moneychangers in the Temple.
