I went to the puppy shop to look for a puppy and happend to come upon the most darling thing! I really didnt know what kinds of questions to ask the owner befor buying her. But he told me that my yorkie was from Korea, she is up to date with all her shots and is healthy, and that she is registered and has up to 4 generations of family tree, and that i should be recieving all the paper work soon. It has been over a month now and the bald spot on her ear ended up to be ringworm as well as her left foot. I just thought they were dry spots and nothing more. It has been over a month now and i went by the shop to ask him for the paper work/ registration papers ( 2x ) and he told me that i will be recieving it shortly since it was a dog from Korea it would take longer. Is this right? It just all sound so fishy now.

I paid 1,100 plus tax, so almost 1,300 for my yorkie.

If it smells fishy, that's because it is. Puppy shops get most of their puppies from puppy mills. Why import a dog from Korea when you can get them cheaper from a backyard breeder right here at home? If he can't give you paperwork to prove that the puppy has had her shots, take her to the vet and get her updated ASAP!!! All paperwork and registration papers for an animal that is imported have to come with that animal, they are not sent at a later date. This is especially true of the animal's vaccination record. And the USA has a quarantine period for imported animals, so if you got a very young puppy, you definitely got taken for a ride.

You have to ask yourself why a store would import puppies from Korea. Can't you imagine the conditions the parents are living in? The folks out there have a different attitude towards pets. It's all for the $. Think of their attitude toward breeding - after all it's a country where they eat dogs -- they are a delicacy - Chows for instance. That's where chow down your food expression comes from.
Bearing this in mind do you think you made the right choice? Why didn't you go to the pound and adopt a needy animal? There are also Yorkie rescue societies.
However, now you have your store-bought pup and you've probably paid a lot for it. Yorkie's are prohibitively expensive, I know, so it's your responsibility to get it well and care of it. It's not feasible to return it. You don't know it's fate if you do. And you've probably already fallen in love with her.
And don't worry about the papers. You can't breed a dog in all good faith when you know it's come from shady circumstances. You don't know if you're going to create a problem for someone else with the offspring (hip dysplasia, underdeveloped thorax, joint problems, ear problems, sight problems). Yorkies are adorable and I hope that you have a good vet who can solve the relatively benign problem your pup has with ringworm. I wish you the best of luck! But please, if you have friends or family who are considering adopting a pet, try and persuade them that your route was not the most advantageous. Go to the shelter!

Pet shops usually buy their puppy from puppy mills and brokers. These puppies are breed for money only and not for their health and quality. You should have done a lot more research about buying a puppy and about yorkies. I hate to say it but, most pets from pet stops end up with more diseases and parasites then any puppy can handle. It's going to be a long hard road for you and that puppy. You need to let your vet know where the puppy came from and test the puppy for everything. If you do not receive the paper work from the pet shop you may need to question if your puppy has even had it's shots. I hate the fact that your puppy is not well but, at least you will learn from this experience. Next time do your research! Please! For your sake and the puppies sake. The link below will show you why people are againist buying from pet shops.

Puppy mill. puppy mill, puppy mill.... what else could it be? Why would someone bring a dog from Korea to sell there? it is fishy and thats because it is. The pup probably came from the most horrible conditions you can imagine in a puppy mill where her mother is suffering still. You will never get papers because its a sham. You should call any authorities in your area such as the SPCA or Humane Society and report the possible puppy mill. Also never buy a dog from a place like that it only supports the people who are breeding the poor things.

Ask for the kennel club tht the dog is registered under.
ask for the parents number. Ask for the vet records they have to have some since the dog came form out of state it needs health check and shot records that are sent with the dog.
Also check teh law in VA they only have I believe 60 to get papers and no it wouldn't take linger as really all this should have been shipped witht eh pup. I f you really think about it by the time they quarantine the dog, teh vet , papers and etc. it cost about that for a local bred dog ( yourkie) there is something very fishy .
I would contact teh lawyer and find out waht can be done sounds like a lot of this that has been done is illegal. Also contact animal control and let them know and ask about the place to be checked.
Good Luck

Sounds fishy to me. If something doesn't make sense it probably isn't. Did you get a health guarantee and is it still valid? I would look into this. I would venture to bet that this puppy came from a mill and not from Korea. Why would a pet shop import puppies at an expense when they can be aquired in country the being sold. I would start asking questions and if you receive no answers I would take it to a civil court.

It could be that. If anything goes wrong with your puppy or he told she didn't have something and she does, go back there. Make a fuss and if she needs an operation. Most pet store would rather pay for it then have it all go public. But buying a dog from a pet store is a bad idea in the first place.

Buying pets from pet shops usually do not end well unfortunately. You need to take the puppy to a vet as soon as you can to get her checked out, because they usually aren't bred properly. You should also report the pet store for selling sick puppies.
I wouldn't bet on having much success from the pet store owner, but you could try.

I would call them up everyday asking when the paper work will be in. Yes it does sound fishy, and thats the way people will be if they want to sell the pet. Just keep calling the store and calling the store and calling the store. If they don't have them, they are likely to say so because you are annoying them so much!!! lol
