There are a multitude of possibilities. If you have an engine that is not "using" oil (burning, leaking, etc.), you can get a burning oil smell from oil spilled on the engine while you are putting oil in during an oil change. On the other hand, if you were adding oil between oil changes, there is some other underlying problem. There may be a leak in the valve guides or piston rings that is allowing oil into the combustion chamber where it is being burned and contributing to a blueish smoke in the exhaust. There may be a leak in some external seal or gasket that is allowing oil to drip on a part of the exhaust system where it will eventually heat up and burn. Do you see smoke in your rear view mirror (especially when slowing down)? Does your car leave spots from dripping oil where it is parked? How often are you adding oil? Is there oil in your antifreeze (cracked block--bad news)?

A very common problem VG-30 turbo engines have is valve cover gasket materal has become hard like steel and is no longer sealing. Before you spend lot's of money in this 21 year old car have a compression test preformed. your'e looking for over 130 psi each cyl and no more then 10% difference 13 psi between each cyl. Turbos also leak oil into the intake system as does worn piston rings and valve guide seals. At Nissan Dealerships we have your newZ waiting 306 HP and factory warranty you will love the way you look in that new car.
