Max Marie, I would take exception with the Catholic Church's record on science. From Galileo on to the late 1800's they fibbed and fudged on the truth on several subjects. One cardinal would not even look through Galileo's telescope proclaiming it a device of the devil. It’s pretty tough to convince an opponent when they won’t look at the evidence with their own eyes. It was not until the 1960’s they apologized for Galileo’s arrest and lifelong detention.
Just because they were caught in a lie and apologized does not mean they actually changed.
I consider this Intelligent Design idea just creationism dressed in a disguise. These people that lied were elected by like-minded Christians. They lied to further all those Christian’s agenda. And now, it is unfair to tar them with the same brush? Those Christian elected these people as leaders. This is where they were led.

So they actual question is "Why would they lie?" Since you've already stated that they did.
Sadly, some people - mind you I said PEOPLE - because PEOPLE lie not Christians, per se - will stoop to any level when they feel backed into a corner.
This lie only serves to fuel the fire against Christians. That we have some sort of desperate agenda. Lies are always wrong.
Shame on all of you who say all Christians lie. I suppose you also all believe that: all black people are criminals. all Jews are greedy. All blondes are stupid. blah blah blah.
For Rock Jock: It wouldn't burst the bubble of all Christians. We Catholics support science and the theory of evolution. The story of Adam and Eve is just ONE part of this huge planet we live on. How can we for one moment think that there was nothing else going on in the world at that time?
Jordan is right. Not everyone who claims to be Christian really is. How many people are out their claiming to be Christian and are out there working against Christianity?

Let us get some things clear.
Christians in the true sense of the faith do not lie, rape children, seduce parishoners, steal money or act in any way contrary to the 10 commandments.
Christians in the wider organisation of religeous enterprise are no different to human beings anywhere else who wear badges of office which they think grants them absolution from anything they can justify in their own heads.
Such is the complexity of mankind that the true and sincere good people who pursue only the glory of loving their neighbour, are sadly downbeaten by the ungodly attitudes of so many of their peers, and so...they endure the continued persecution and judgement of being tarred with a christain brush of bigotry.
It isnt all fair to the good folk of earth

Are we making generalizations here or what? I think that what you mean to say is "Why do creationists lie to discredit evolution?" To which the answer is obvious. If evolution is proven true, creationist extremists will think that the Bible is false, which leads to all sorts of problems. As for "intelligent design" , I don't know much about it and I don't want to. I think those people are well intentioned, but have a definite lack of understanding of the sciences. That may be a generalization on a large scale, but seems to be the case with the people I meet who want to believe in intelligent design.

Every one lies to justify it ends. So y does a religion surpise u? Besides u cant plz every lying is just part of human nature and cannot be changed until evolution changes it...lol pissed of some christian any ways I think its better to not always fill in the in blanks and let be the past be the past and look toward a better future.

The provision to establish the wiretapping program was done so according to law, the Patriot Act. I know the Patriot Act and the 4th amendment contradict each other, the only way to resolve it is through the supreme court. The constitution also guarantees a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and yet abortion is still legal, go figure. Impeach that.

The problem isn't that they're Christian, it's that they're people. People lie regardless of their religious beliefs in order to advance their self-centered, self-focused causes.
You could find just as many other examples that have nothing to do with faith where people advance their cause at the cost of being honest....

Christians do not lie!
A lie is not a lie if it is told with the purpose of furthering God's holy word. A truth is not a truth when it contradicts God's holy word.

Because they (meaning arch-conservative literalist Creationists) believe that they have a lock on the "real Truth" about the universe, and anything that they say that spreads their message about the "Truth" is good by God. Even distortions, straw men, and outright lies.
