Is it not our own vanity that we convine ourselves we are right?
People that think they know God can only describe him as things they know (the stars, the moon, the universe) We see pictures, but the truth is that we don't even know what our universe looks like! We think we know, we speculate.

Secondly science may tell us things happen, but why do they happen? According to science things work basically because they do, there is no REASON for us to be here, there is no REASON for the existance of the universe.

Like I said with God out of the equation there is no reason. IF you want to go off on a trip about god this and god that you are off topic.

if there ought not to be a reason then the universe works chaoticly meaning that ALL possabilities are open.

The key to what I am saying is that eventually science reaches a point where the causality of something is only the effect of a bigger picture that they either cannot see or refuse to acknowledge. Science wont work ehn we have all the snawers that science can provide, granted it will take awhile for this to happen, but eventually it will evolve into something else. It could still be called science, but it wont be "traditional" that's for sure.

Secondly my personal beliefs are off topic you have no clue about me from reading a couple paragraphs of writing and you haven't aksed, this again is act of vanity and ignorance. You also assumed I am Christian by way of religion, though i do have christian beliefs.

madness may not have a purpose or a reason, but it may have a goal....what's your goal?

You know nothing of science. Saying things happen because they happen is Aristotolean and has nothing to do with the principles of modern science.

Science in fact seeks to understand causality, and is not content with the magic man theory... the magic man of religion theory IS the one that suggests something must be so, simply because the mind cannot be bothered with intricacy.

As to how people describe God: assuming you are Christian, your own faith is based on the Hebraic tradition, and that in turn Kabbalism. In this original faith God's form, even his name, is ineffable, unknowable to mere humans.

The vanity comes as modern peope (meaning in the last thousand or so years) needed to see painting and images of this figure. The standard image of Christ comes from Rembrandts nephew, who posed for a number of paintings. The real Christ was dark skinned, and likely had nappy hair, since that would be the common physical attributes of Aramea.

Does god have a beard, is he even a he, or even shaped like a mere living being? If there is no goddess why would he be male, or have genitalia of any sort?

We don't know what our Universe looks like?

Turn off the tube, go up on the roof and get lost in the immensity of the Universe. It's all around us. True, there are wavelengths we can't see, scales of event and object beyond our comprehension... but it's all there, hidden in plain sight.

I think you know as little about your own religion as you do about science. Not uncommon these days, but rather ironic for one who chooses to argue the case.

If you were a lawyer, I would not hire you.

The mistake is to assume that there ought to be a reason. It's in our nature to be curious and look for answers and meaning and significance, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's there to be found on any particular issue... and particularly so for something as remote from everyday reality as the existence of the universe.

Study quantum physics for an insight into how counter-intuitive reality really is, when you get down to the nitty-gritty.

For inanimate objects, things happen because of Cause and Effect--the ice cube got too warm, so it melted into a puddle of water.

For people...there is no "reason" why we are here. You have to make up your mind for yourself--either find your own reason or believe a reason that someone else tells you.
