I just bought a 2007 accent 3 door hatchback. I picked it up on Saturday and I love it. I previously owned an accent, 2000, personally I love the fact that the gas mileage is awesome and a very comfortable ride. Not a family car but great for one or two, and perfect for getting things in the back the seats go right down lots of room. Lots of head room. The warranty and roadside assistance is top notch, if you are considering this, it's a good choice in my book. Also if I am not mistaken the accent was voted the most reliable and safe small car this year in North America, first time.

I don't have an Accent, but I usually rent them when I travel to NY because they are cheap to rent and get good gas mileage.
They are Front wheel drive, but they are not that great in the snow because the wheel base is so small.

The price is right. If my budget was $12K and I had to have a new car, I would seriously consider one. You may also want to consider the Hyundai Elantra. It is not that much more, it is a big upgrade (more room, comparable mileage), and a little better in snow because of the bigger wheelbase and more weight.

Hyundai's warranty is also a major advantage.

My mom had an Accent and it wasn't a bad car. A little too small for me but good for basic transportation. I like the sporty 3-door hatch. I saw one guy reach 180,000 miles without major problems before he traded it in.

I think the Accent is too small, I like the Elantra much better.
