There are consignment furniture stores all over the Bay Area. They have great furniture that people have used and want to sell at reasonable prices. You can find some amazing deals if you look long enough. Search google under consignment furniture stores. Craigslist is good also.

Craigslist is tops for finding stuff (including a husband in my case!). Or Salvations Army, St. Vincent DePaul, or look for yard sales in the paper. And then there are tons of second hand shops like Discovery (which benefits the American Cancer Society). Also try freecycle on Yahoo groups. You can give stuff away or get stuff and no money changes hands...all free.

Soi 4 on College Ave in Rockridge district of Oakland. You can walk to it from BART and it has real authentic Tai food like Satays and wonderfully fresh ingrediants. Nothing on the menu is over $8. Best to make a reservation. Very popular and a destination spot.

You can actually find some cheaper ones in World Market, also known as Cost Plus. There is at least one in every city in the Bay area.

all i would suggest is to go on www.craigslist.com because they have lots of used furniture at really low prices, or in some cases, free.
