Jeremy gets the points! But if there is a driver change, the car goes to the back of the field even if Rusty wins the pole! So he has to race from the back to win. Very hard to do. That why you can't get an advantage from picking your driver to qualify, start and finish a race. The car qualifies, not the driver. But the driver wins the race, not the car. The driver who starts the race gets the points (aka Jeff starts the race and then goes to have a baby scenario) Weird NASCAR logic (because someone tried to take advantage at some point so NASCAR changes the rules to fit the current cheaters)

I hope this is right, I'm going on memory. If I'm wrong it is not intentional so don't get all over me.

I'm off to have lunch and a Budweiser to celebrate Hendricks new driver. Welcome aboard Dale and Tony Jr, Kelly too! Nice deal by the way. I'm sure lots of people wish they had a sister like Kelly watching out for them. Too bad for Teresa, the wicked Stepmother! By the way, anybody know what happened to Kerry Earnhardt?

I should have realized something was up when Jr stuck up for Jeff after Talladega!

Terry (who is too happy for words right now!!)

It doesn't matter who is in the car during qualifying when it comes to the points. As long as Jeremy Mayfield is in the car when the race starts, then Jeremy will get the points.

Yep, Mayfield would get the driver points during the race but would have to start @ the rear of the field since he didn't qualify the car himself. Good Question.

jeremy mayfield would
in nascar law the driver that starts the race in the car recieves the points.
last year when tony stewart broke a rib and couldn't do a full race the week after, he had a subsititute driver(i think it was ricky rudd) finish the race for him, but tony got the points.

Mayfield, but he would start at the back of the field no matter the qualifying position due to another driver in the hot-rod on pole day.

regrettably, I doubt JJ could even qualify. Jeremy has in straightforward terms qualified 4 situations when you consider that Daytona and JJ isn't bringing extra to the table than Jeremy has. it somewhat is in basic terms too undesirable for Jeremy. all the articles I study mentioned the medicine in touch had no longer been revealed. I doubt it somewhat is going to ever be counseled. I particular desire it replaced into an harmless mistake and can be labored out. NASCAR extremely has a no attraction coverage in this. bypass Jr.>>>>

The driver starting the race gets the points. If the driver starting the race isn't the one who qualified the car must go to the back of the field.
