He'll probably be fine. I don't know why he reacted this way to Dawn since it is relatively gentle. However, I've never washed my animals with anything that wasn't intended specifically for them. Does Dawn kill fleas? Anyhow, there are plenty of flea shampoos on the market that are safe for you pets. You might consider one of those.

NEVER, Ever use shampoo, detergant or anything that isn't specified for pets! Sure, you save 2 dollars on soap but you risk poisoning your friend.

Products like Dawn specifically state they are not for use on animals. Soaps are absorbed by your dog's skin more readily than human skin. These can build up over time and cause an allergic reaction.

For now, Give him ALOT of water. Food and Water is the best way to combat what has already done. Also, give him a warm bath with clean water and use some dog shampoo. This will clean up any residue that may be causing your poor pet to break out and have those dry patches of skin.

Dawn is not good to bathe a dog in. They need to be bathed in a gentle shampoo made for dogs and once a month at the most. Dawn will not kill fleas either. The soap irritated his skin.

You should continue giving him aspirin but only every other day. Try combing him with a flea comb. There are some flea medicines you can get like Frontline. Here are some websites that may help you.

A dog's skin is very sensitive. You should use a product that is pet safe. It is good that you are taking the dog to the vet he needs medical attention right now. In the future do not give a dog any medicine or use any product that is not made especially for dogs.

I'm sure he will be fine. Just think about when you do the dishes and some soap gets on you, it stings a little right? He just dealing with it the way he is suppose to. He might of even had a reaction to the soap who knows just get him into the vet asap.

I am sure it is a skin irritation which probably bothers him. What did the vet say about him being ok for now? If you don't think so bring him in as an emergency. That will relieve you & your dog. Good luck ! He knows you didn't mean it!

All you had to do was go to walmart and get some flea spray and spray it on. The fleas fall right off and die. Never use anything on dogs that does not say it is for animal use. Where did you get the idea that dawn would kill fleas anyways?!

Did you rinse him off thoroughly.. Dawn shouldn't irritate the dog that much.. Aspirin isn't going to relieve
that kind of pain.

Awwwwwww. Make sure you rinse him in water to get all the soap residue off and maybe some vaseline would help relieve the dryness. Just alittle bit though.
